So good! Bakery here is awesome. Love that it is French bakery! Salmon hash is awesome, and it comes with a croissant, a slice of Brie and yummy jam on the side. Everything that comes out, looked so good. Noticed the salads and sandwiches that passed by us also looked very nicely done. Love that they bring out several teas to choose from if that is what you want to drink. Green tea latte is also very good,

SO delicious and the perfect place to take a visiting relative or friend for brunch. I only wish My mom and I had gotten there a little bit earlier to take advantage of ordering the hot breakfast items, the line and wait was for too long for our rumbling bellies. There was however, an outstanding selection of pastries to choose from. We picked a few, ordered coffee, then enjoyed them in the sun on the patio. Great overall experience :)

It's been a little over a year since I've been to la Provence, only because I've been overseas. The food is as good as I remember! Some of the old crew is still there and service from them is great, but my server was not feeling well and that came through while she was waiting on us. We felt rushed when she was trying to wrap up our bill, we were not ready to leave. She did not follow up on drink refills, nor did she check on us to see how things were overall. Lipstick on my sons glass. She took care of that right away. I guess I have to consider she wasn't well, but if that's the case she shouldn't be at work.

OK. I'll say it. Arguably the best breakfast I've ever had. The NW salmon hash. Everything cooked to perfection. A croissant on the side with brie and raspberry jam. Place was crowded at 8am and the tables are a bit close together for privacy, but worth it. Going back today again for breakfast. And a couple more pastries to go.

Fantastic! The chicken sandwich is amazing! The chefs omelet has a perfect blend of flavors......the corn beef and hash was really good (but you should put the sauce on the side)! Amazing restaurant! Good laughs, smiles, but most importantly great food!

The French Toast is good! Very nice place to come with girlfriends and hang out in the patio. They have lots of pastries that you can choose from and everything looks yummy!

Giving these guys a two star breaks my heart but after the past couple days, it was simply unavoidable. After many months and for my girl several years, we both have had excellent experiences here. But after the past couple times of late coming here, the food was very sub-par. Not so much on taste but on preparation and quality. My lady's quiche was delivered rubbery, tasteless and with no signs of being made fresh. As well as a sandwich with what they claim to put prosciutto on when it is in actuality a thin sliced piece of standard ham. Maybe one day they can become the same La P we all know and love again. Just because you grow in size and popularity does not condone skimping on quality.

3/2013 Final update as this will be the last time I subject myself to this Restaurant. The chairs in the new location kill my ASS. A large ass is part of my charm and why my husband lusts after me 30 years later, I admit i have a large ass, but for god's sake it isn't that big. The chairs in this place absolutely kill my ASS, they are sooo uncomfortable. They still don't have their shit together on a busy Sunday morning. Our toast came a good 20 minutes before our entree, thus by the time my egg came, my toast was cold (I dip my toast into my egg yolk). We got there at 8:30 on a Sunday and there was a line already, we put our name in and stood around for about 15 minutes. There was a table immediately inside the front door which was empty and could have sat our party. After waiting around for 15 minutes and them seating others, they finally put us at that table which we had been watching all that time. DON'T GET IT. What a terrible table, we got to enjoy our breakfast with a huge crowd waiting and standing all around our table, I find it embarrassing to eat in front of 20 strangers standing close enough their butt is nearly in my lap. Too crowded, too slow and the food is just not that great, and those chairs kill my ASS. The end.

It's a nice place to have lunch, I tried their salads, soup and a couple of sandwiches and they're all very good. And I love the samples they put out for their pastries :)

Thanks for a wonderful Mother's Day Brunch! My family (especially our children) loved the chocolate croissants to start, and the heavenly raspberry chocolate cream puffs to finish. The servers were so friendly, delicious food, and the ambience was relaxed for all the ages in our group. Looking forward to visit when you move to your new location.

Returned here for the first time in years. Had lunch and the food was as good as ever - best corned beef hash I've ever had!. The eggs were flawlessly poached. I miss the quaintness of the old location and wish the place weren't quite so noisy, but the atmosphere is classic bistro and the service is great.

Mediocre at best. I feel I grossly overpaid for food/service on-par with a Shari's or Denny's type diner. When I asked to sit inside, it was because it was hot out and I, frankly, didn't want to enjoy my meal that way. Unfortunately, I was sat next to double-doors that they decided at the beginning of my meal to prop open. There goes that idea. Waitress was friendly/professional, but failed to come back and ask me how my starter soup of the day was until I had finished it. Never came back until check-time (which I waited 15 minutes post-finishing my meal to even get a chance to ask for). I didn't feel I ever had a real opportunity to address my experience. The side bread served with my soup had weird globs of what I really hope was just jam along the crust, would be fine had I ordered it with jam. I didn't. Where did it come from? I have no clue. I opted for the corned beef hash for my main meal. The corned beef was so finely shredded and dried out that it was often times crunchy. Thus, the star of the meal was flavorless. The toast served with the main meal was unappetizing as it was largely charred/burnt. I had to eat around it on one slice, and completely ignore the second slice. The jam cup and individually wrapped rectangles of butter were served smack dab sitting on top of my warm food. Clean much? It appears to have been an attempt at getting everything to fit on one plate. I would have much preferred a separate plate for the jam/butter/toast such that it didn't have to touch/rub against so much of my food. Speaking of sanitation, remember the propped open doors? It attracted some nice flies that kept bothering me while I ate. Not something I would necessarily be overly concerned with if I were sitting outside; but I wasn't sitting outside. Which brings me to another great part of my meal. Twice during eating there were multiple trash cans full of fresh garbage wheeled through the main dining area - right in front of me. As if the random globs of red goo on my toast, the crunchy corned beef chunks, the flies, and the wrappers of butter sitting on top of my food weren't enough -- I got the outstanding opportunity to stare at bins of GARBAGE while I ate. C'mon, I know its about twice the distance of a walk, but use the other doors for your patron's sake. Service: Mediocre, but friendly when around. Food: Sub-par, especially for the price. Atmosphere: Okay. Would have preferred doors closed and less bins of garbage to stare at. But the layout / color isn't bad. Will I return?: No. Not likely. Maybe in a few months to see if things have changed.

Hi my name is Olivia and I'm addicted to French pastries. I've been to this location 5+ times and it's always consistent! Try some of my faves: BREAKFAST: Risotto Cakes & Eggs. Ask for a side of Brie cheese and jam to go with your croissant! DRINK: Bloody Mary. The pickled asparagus and green bean is a nice garnish that looks and tastes great! PASTRIES: So many I can't just recommend one! -Napoleon/Strawberry Napoleon (sweet vanilla pastry cream sandwiched between layers of flaky puff pastry). -Conversation (puffy pastry with almond cream). -Raspberry Cheese Croissant (croissant baked with raspberry jam and cream cheese). My only complaint is that they share a main parking lot with surrounding businesses and it gets so busy that they offer valet parking. I think I've found a reasonable way to avoid this for those who also agree valet parking for breakfast is a little bit of a first world problem. *see tip below: weekend mornings are crazy busy, but you can avoid the sometimes unnecessary valet parking by driving past the main parking lot and taking a right into the back parking lot. this is the shared parking lot with the very awesome Lake Grove Liquor Store. make sure not to park in the designated valet area or right in front of the store. added bonus of parking here is entering the back door of La Provence and grabbing a spot at the bar or the high tables!

I was a little skeptical my first time here.... I though hmmmmm fancy schmancy French food on small plates..... great how many am I going to have to order just to have a normal sized meal..... that is truly the last horrible thought I had. so..... I went here and my mom and I both ordered 2 small plates. all I have to say is OH MY OH MY OH MY!!! The place gets packed due to how good it is but we did not suffer at all from the wait staff. The food was excellent and surprisingly good sized portions for being small plates. I have tried many things here (they have squid!!!! anyone who reads my reviews knows I love my squid!!!) they have sliders, they have different salads and they have many many other things. Escargot with blue cheese (I always ask for no blue cheese....just my preference) is wonderful too. I love this place but have to restrain myself due to the fact that the food is so yummy and the desserts are divine. I would need a crane to leave if I was to eat there all the time. I have only made it over for the small plates. I have been told that they have equally as wonderful breakfasts and cant wait to try those as well. can things get a little hectic with how busy it is???? yes..... do I care??????? HELLS NO!!!

The croissants alone are worth a stop. Favorite breakfast spot in Lake Oswego hands down.

If it weren't for the pastries, I would have given this place only 1 star. I love eggs benedict and it might be fair to say that I can be a bit critical when it comes to the quality of holladaise sauce. However, I will never ever get their eggs benedict again. It was worse than powdered sauce! It tasted like watery eggs...if you can imagine what that even tastes like. No hint of lemon. No thickness. Just pale yellow water. It also made the croissant very saugy...gross. BUT, the pastries are delicious.

The average score for this place is a 3. 5 for food, zero for service. Actually, that's not correct mathematically, so I say 6 for food. I gave a chance to rectify, but now I'm taking to the yelp. (I have had good service in the past. I guess it's not fair to base their entire score on one bad experience...but it was pretty bad) We have actually been several times. One thing to remember is that the Lake Oswego location is in a new spot. It's by the Zupans now. The food is top notch. The croissants are the best you will every have. The macarons, I assume you can't get any better outside of France. I want a bowl of the french onion soup made big enough so I can take a bath in it and eat the cheese burned edges on my way down. Their version of a Man Benedict was one of the best things I've had for brunch. Let me reiterate that the food is some of the best in the city, or as far as my knowledge...the universe. We came for brunch at about 2pm. We were "greeted" by a melancholy looking valet (at least that what I can assume he was) who was smoking a cigarette. Who needs a valet at 2pm on a Sunday in a grocery story strip mall parking lot? We were seated promptly but much like a PT Anderson movie, the pacing of the service was a little off. Now, bear in mind. It's 2pm on a Sunday. Oh silly me, there's social business to take care of in front of the kitchen door. How dare we interfere. The omelet was a dud. It had a weird taste to it and was covered in bright pink tomatoes that looked like they were freshly picked off a ship from Costa Rica. You know, it happens though. Kitchens aren't perfect, it's the job of the staff to make it better and customers will forget about a forgettable mistake from the kitchen. Unfortunately in our case we sat there with empty coffee cups and water glasses and an inedible omelet. Of course she took it off the bill like it says in the waitress' handbook, but no mention of any other option to rectify since I had already finished my meal in the time it took our waitress to return. Most customers would leave in a huff, but I'm not leaving without buying a wonderful box of a pastries to take home. oh heaven. Food great, service terrible. Unless of course they are trying to replicate the Parisian experience. However, having never been to France and only seeing it on TV, I can't really say.

We read a number of Yelp reviews complaining about the slow service. Management lit a fire under the servers - way too much! We declined to put in a drink order when seated so we could study the menu. Big mistake. When we ordered cocktails and 4 dishes they all came at the same time. We asked the server why and she said she'd been told to provide quick service. That would have sold us more beverages if they hadn't rushed us through dinner in 30 minutes. The fish dish was delicious. Others were good but not memorable.

Only reason they get 4 stars and not 5 was because I directly witnessed one gal handling bakery items without gloves. I'm also pretty sure I saw one gal handle cash and then food without changing gloves. Never seen that happen here in the states before. Maybe that's how they do it in France? Regardless, everything sure is tasty and I'd come back. Maybe management can gently nude their employees to be a little more careful. But maybe I'm too sensitive.

Update. Need to take a few stars away due to my last visit. I have now been here 4 times, love the food and the outside seating. good drinks and some pretty waiting staff. but that is where it ends. if you are looking to feel like you are not one table in the mist, then I suggest sitting at the bar. each time I have gone here and dropped no less than a fifty, I have left happy to have the food, yet sad to have it served to me by such distracted staff. I tried to convenience the wife throughout the whole seating that it was due to low staffing, yet I know in my heart it was just bad service. Will l be going back? not really sure. but if I do I will probably sit at the bar.

Today is my birthday. My husband surprised me be taking me out to a French bistro for breakfast. He knows I love France and wanted to make my day special by taking me to La Provence Boulangerie & Patisserie. Let me first say the place is very pretty with the right amount of French flair without overdoing it. The second thing I will say is that our waiter Michelle was fabulous. The hostess Danielle greeted us. There were several open tables in sight, but she wanted to put to big guys at a smale table in the main waiting area next to the bakery counter. If we had sat there, we would have had various derrieres in our faces as they waited for baked goods at the counter. I asked if there was another table. Danielle quickly spun around with a scowl on her face and placed at the other worst table in the joint. The table was in the back corner with the wait station right behind my back with pitchers of water and pots of coffee above my head. Through the whole meal the waiters would reach above my head for various liquids. It gets better; it was also located next to the restrooms, the stairs to the banquet that was holding a baby shower with very loud guests, and the door to the dishwasher room. So our two choices were asses in our faces or sharing the access to the restroom as we dined. What was even more entertaining were the glares Danielle would give me whenever we made eye contact. The croissant was very good. It came with fresh jam, butter, and a little pat of soft cheese. I had the corned beef with hash. It was very bland and disappointing...I had to put salt on corned beef...Really... on corned beef! The whole dish looked as if it was microwaved. The hash was soggy with under cooked potatoes. The whole dish would have been much better if it had been left in the skillet longer to brown and caramelize. Our waiter Michelle was very attentive and pleasant. She was quick to keep my coffee cup full. So my impression if you want a French meal, come here and have Danielle seat you. She will give you the surly attitude that the French are famous for. My best advice...get the baked goods and go home.

OMW! I love this place almost everything is so so so good. I HATE Corned beef hash. But here? This is my favorite thing here. We probably go here once a week. It gets busy go early or around 11. YUM!

I came here recently for a second time with my husband and a friend, and here are my observations: Food: Croissants are always fab with the warm brie and jam, no question. My husband had the "Day Breaker," which consisted of eggs, sausage, potatoes, and a HUGE portion of large chunks of butternut squash. ENOUGH with all the frigggin' squash!! I gave it to my dog when we got home and he did like it though, hence the third star. My husband was not impressed with his order on either visit. I ordered the white bean & faro salad and the tomato soup with blue cheese. The portion of the salad was so tiny (I am kicking myself that I did not take a picture), that I seriously should have just sent it back. It measured (get your ruler out) about 4" by 4"--and it was just beans and faro! A dwarf bunny would have starved. Worse yet, it was just so-so. (My husband stared at my salad in disbelief, chuckling under his breath, but we didn't want to embarrass our friend who invited us there.) On to the tiny cup of soup--the tomato base was very nice, but there was waaay too much blue cheese and it simply overpowered the dish. My friend spooned all of her cheese out onto the side while I left mine on the bottom, which took up a quarter of the cup. At $14, this was simply unacceptable. (Luckily, I ate the other half of my husband's croissant when we got home, since I was ravenous at that point.) Service: Just flat out odd. All the servers seemed dazed and confused. Plus, it's never quite clear who your server actually is. No warm and fuzzy feeling here that you might expect in so many other places in Portland. (It should be noted that this was a mid-week lunch, but they were not "slammed" and there wasn't a wait.) With the cold service, uninviting bistro tables, and hit-or-miss fare, I likely will not be returning, even for takeout.

Amazing, all the way around. Prices were fair, food was excellent, service was good given that we went on Father's Day afternoon. Can't wait to come back for more espresso, and croissants, and macarons, and everything else!

The food is great! My friend lives in the area and she goes here all the time. She loves it! This was my first time and I got the Risotto Cakes which was amazing! The reason I give it 3 stars is because the service sucks! The waitress was so mean. Her attitude was as though she was belittling me and my friend. So yeahhhhh. Food great, service sucked.

No matter how good the food, no matter how delicate the pastry, if the service is poor, the meal is ruined. This restaurant is always busy and this morning we came in about 9 AM for breakfast. It's a Sunday and they were just ready to get busy and opening the outside patio section by section. Happy to wait and when we were seated the irritation began. When the server came over (she was quite nice) we immediately told her our order which included 2 cups of coffee. 10 minutes later (easy) the coffee still have not arrived. The table next to us ask for a refill and her coffee and eventually got up and spoke to our same server on her way to the loo asking for the refill. The next table two over also got up and left and hadn't even been able to order because they could not get the server's attention. As busy as they have been and for his long as they've been around, we are really surprised they're not better organized. But truly it ruined an opportunity for breakfast there and we got up and left. My husband said to the manager "your service is appalling" the manager replied ( as he was hurrying by) "sorry". Given the unbelievable high stars this restaurant receives, we know we are just a blip on the screen but seriously poor service should never be acceptable. And the pastry is epic! (Thank God for takeout)

I have only had breakfast here but it's delicious! Try the Crepes or order a croissants. If you go on the weekends get there early because there will be a wait.

Unbelievable how many people complain of the bad service, unpleasant servers, and things don"t change for better! La Provence, do you see your reviews? It looks like this location might need new management! Stopped by today to get some pastries, and of course, even if there is no line, you still have to wait more than necessary just to be noticed!! Rude!

Croissants before your brunch are spectacular. Corned beef hash with the horseradish sauce is my current go to.

I came here for brunch one weekend, and let me say, I was very impressed! It was pretty full, but we were seated right away near the back. The restaurant has a cute French bistro vibe, La Provence pulls it off very well. Started off with a grapefruit mimosa - tart and tasty, if not a wee bit small. I ordered the La Provence BLT - it came with the usual B, L, and T, along with avocado, a fried egg, and basil aioli all stuffed into a croissant (basically the best combination ever). The croissants are lovely - crispy and flaky on the outside, soft and buttery on the inside. The BLT came with a plate of fruit, and the two paired well together. My friends got the risotto cakes and the vegetarian croissant - no complaints there. All in all, a brunch place worthy of repeat visits!

My first visit back after a long absence and I'm reminded of what they do right and wrong. Portland has numerous interesting breakfast options, but the choices are few and far between in the Southwest burbs. So La Provence scores by providing both pastries and a few non-standard breakfast entrees. The risotto cakes and poached eggs made for a nice alternative to the everyday options. Aside from the sides (Provencal Potatoes & Butternut Squash) being undercooked, it was an enjoyable dish. The berry crepes, a daily special, were a disappointment. The crepes were too thick and really had the consistency of a flat pancake, rather than a light-as-air crepe. Service is more French, than American. Meaning a bit on the slow side. The coffee is made from Nossa Familia beans, a Portland roaster. I've been here for dinner, but for my money, this is all about breakfast. Still a reasonable option in the area when you're not in a hurry and want something a little more interesting than a diner or large chain. Factor in the stars of my original review and update for an average of 3.5 stars, which is about right.

While the other location is almost identical in design, this new location is a bit roomier. It is still out of this world charming, with it's French provincial aesthetic and classic bistro charm. The wait on the weekends can be a bit brutal, so try and get there early. I was not happy on our last visit, as we were quoted half an hour wait but it ended up being over 50 minutes. Unlike other brunch spots around town there is not a coffee station to self-serve while you wait-sad times. On to the nice stuff: The FOOD! I am so in love with the meurette benedict. Two perfectly cooked poached eggs atop a buttery croissant (no english muffins here, my friends) covered in a burgundy reduction with onions, mushrooms and bits of bacon. Get the butternut squash/potato side, it's so yummy. My husband usually goes for the corn-beef hash, which also looks delicious (fresh veggies elevate a usually "whatever" dish). And you're failing at life if you don't grab a pastry or two on your way out, the apple and pear varieties are my favorite. The MIMOSA! While they aren't bottomless, rest assured there is much more champagne than o.j. going into this drink. And you have your choice of what juice you'd like to mix into your cocktail. Moral of the story: All good things come to those that wait.

Absolutely amazing food! Their breakfast is superb, my favorite dish is the risotto cakes. The croissants are light and jam is also delicious. A little known secret is that they have a great dinner menu. You wouldn't think this of a typical French brunch café, but it's well worth a try! The portions are small, but so are the prices. Order more than one entrée if you're hungry, or just to share. In conclusion, tasty breakfast and dinner options make this a great restaurant. The decor is beautiful, but the food truly steals the show. Glistening tarts and cakes line the entrance, reassuring you of both the quality and artistic flair the restaurant offers. As a longtime staple in Lake Oswego, La Provence deserves a 5/5 for its consistent quality and constant improvement.

Fantastic experience here. We ordered the grilled romaine and shrimp, scallops, steelhead salmon and the beet salad. All were an excellent value at either 5.95 or 6.95. The scallops were 3 dime sized diver scallops and were perfectly prepared. The beet salad and romaine were quite large for the price. The steelhead was excellent as well. Had the Chocolate dessert at 4.75 and it was fantastic. Cant imagine why anyone would rate this place below 4 stars, it frankly rocks. Service and wine was outstanding as well. The presentation of the food was over the top great

Amazing place. I dropped by to collect a couple of birthday desserts, and was impressed by the quality and the selection. Seeing the pastries wheeled out hot from the kitchen was particularly impressive. Bit of a line (it moved fast). Poor parking at the location, but that is not something I can dock the business itself for--I blame the developer of the property.

LOVE! The croissants are to die for, the jam delectable. My 11 year old and my favorite breakfast item are the risotto cakes and eggs. Mushroom risotto and delicious poached eggs. Coffee is rich, dark and wonderful. Service is good, our waitress was a 4 out of 5 - it took a while to get served but once she started, she was very attentive! It was my daughter's birthday and she got a very cute and delicious fruit tart with a bday message. Nice touch. It gets very busy so go early!

The pastries are amazing. However, the draw ends there. The service is awful, like I-forgot-your-coffee-three-times awful. The menu items always come out pretty standard in my opinion, nothing to write home about - yet the line is out the door frequently, it always amazes me. Bottom line, grab your pastries and go if you can.

If I ate all my meals here I would weigh three times what I already do but I seriously could eat here everyday. I was not sure what to think of their menu since it is all little plates and such. I was thinking how many of these do I have to get and it seemed almost annoying...until we ordered. I decided to start with two and my husband did the same. I went full blown French and ordered Escargot Romero (minus the blue cheese) and Boeuf Bourguignon. The snails were on mushrooms and there were three but they were good sized and amazing in flavor. The Bourguignon was amazing and HUGE for an Appetizer - I could seriously see ordering this for lunch and being perfectly happy and full - for $6.50!!!! Are you kidding??? My husband ordered Pates a la Grecque which is linguini with sun dried tomatoes, artchoke hearts, Kalamata olives, feta, basil and lemon cream sauce. He also ordered Petits Beef Bordelaise. The pasta was also way larger than we thought. With drinks, tip and beyond stuffing ourselves we spend $40 on amazing French food...holy cow! For desert you will also be impressed though you may have a challange chosing just one thing - everything is just amazing.

I loved this place! My boyfriend and I went to a late breakfast here one day. We both were stoked that we got our drinks of choice: I loved my vanilla latte, and his bloody mary was spicy and had good vegetables as the garnish. To eat I got the salmon hash with scrambled eggs. The salmon was cooked perfectly, the hash was crispy but not overcooked, and my scrambled eggs weren't tiny pebbles on top. My boyfriend got risotto cakes with poached eggs on top. That was also delicious, and his butternut squash on the side was soooo good! We will definitely be back.

Went there about a week ago for late night dessert with the family. We had a huge dinner so just wanted something sweet. This place is AWESOME. Friendly staff, great desserts, great ambiance. What else could you ask for? A Bar? YES they have that too. Overall a great experience so will be going there again soon for birthday lunches.

This must be a happening place! Family breakfast at 8am on a Friday morning, and it was starting to get crowded by 9. The folks I went with said on the weekends there are lines out the door by that time. Cute little breakfast place, La Provence has all sorts of delicious looking french pastries, and a full menu of unique breakfast entrees. Only one item was what I would consider a "normal" breakfast. The Daybreaker: eggs, ham, and potatoes. Because I almost never see these on breakfast menus, I had a Monte Cristo. Even though it was not supposed to be available until lunch time, the waitress hooked it up! Sadly, it was doused in way too much mayo, and had tomato?! C'mon now... Other than those drawbacks, it was rather delicious, and cooked to perfection - bread nicely soaked with egg and fried just enough for a slight crisp. Wife had risotto cakes with poached eggs. She liked hers up until she bit into an inch-long size egg shell. Super waitress was all over it, and even though my wife hardly made a fuss, waitress and manager removed it from the bill without us even asking. Fresh-baked croissants came with most breakfast entrees, and everyone enjoyed them. I like mine softer and more doughy, but the rest of our party loved the crispiness and flakiness. Prices weren't bad, average meal was about $11 without drinks. A bit higher than your normal diner-style breakfast joint, but still reasonable, especially for someplace so seemingly hoity-toity. Portions were enough to fill you up, but not to take any home. I'll come back just to try their corned beef hash and some of the pastries on display. They looked pretty dang scrumptious.

I really wanted to like this place, but the food fell short every time. My family and I came here for breakfast and have tried this place a few times in hopes of loving it. The potatoes were over seasoned, the gravy was really chunky (like it hadn't been mixed properly), the corned beef hash was really dry and overcooked, and the risotto was not cooked all the way. Their croissants and oatmeal are awesome, tho. However, I'm not convinced that they make all their own pastries. If they change their menu, I'd give them another try. The restaurant is lovely, clean, and smells amazing.

Fun place to try out. It did remind me of little restaurants in Paris a bit, but in an American way, shiny and new. I couldn't believe Miller beer was on the menu. And Guinness. I got a chuckle out of that. Though French beer is not particularly available in the States. Quite good service from seating, to bread basket delivery, to our server, though not especially friendly, just very competent. We got the cheese plate and the Artichoke Risotto Croquettes. Presentation was nice enough, but food was so-so, especially the croquettes. I thought the croquettes' outside was like it had been frozen and then thawed. It wasn't crispy crunchy. And the inside was gooey and rather nondescript. The sauce was too little and tasteless. The cheeses were described as chef's choice. I think the chef picked them up at Albertson's. Nothing remotely artisinal that I could detect, and Oregon has some great cheeses. I'd have paid more and would have liked hazelnuts instead of walnuts since they're Oregon grown. Deserts were pretty. But the ganache was a bit leathery. So it was fun to be at La Provence thinking of the real Paris and Provence but I won't be back likely.

Have gone here multiple times for brunch, dinner and dessert. Always very satisfied with the food as well as the service. Brunch is probably my favorite...the benedicts are amazing! They do it on a croissant instead of the traditional english muffin. The potatoes & butternut squash side is a really good compliment as well. For dinner they have many different small plate options which give you the opportunity to try many different things (probably my favorite style of dining). The French onion soup is delicious! They have quite a variety of desserts/pastries, which you can just "grab and go" if you don't want to dine in and just want to take something home. The lemon tart was really good, as was the cheesecake (not too overpowering & the perfect amount of sweetness) Will definitely continue going back!

Love the outdoor seating. Great prices, small plates, many options on wine - all around good hidden gem.

My husband and I frequently run past the restaurant and it always seems crowded. We've stopped by a couple of times for pastries but until two days ago never for anything more. We've had breakfast a couple of times at the NE location and thought it was quite good, so we decided to give lunch a try at this location. The food was wonderful. I ordered the tuna melt and my husband the Monte Cristo. Both prepared well and delicious. The dressing on my side salad was perfect and my husband's fresh fruit was actually fresh. That being said, the service was enough to make me rethink returning. I'm not sure what it is, and La Provence is definitely not alone is this, but it seems lately that standards for customer service are lacking in many businesses. Every person we encountered both directly and indirectly during our visit seemed to be just "getting through it". Let me qualify this by adding that we are not high-maintenance and generally like an adequate, but no-frills approach to service, so for us to notice the lack of and quality of service says something. Beginning with the hostess: an "I-can't-be-bothered-and-this-job-is-beneath-me" attitude. The server: Pleasant and competent, but disinterested and a bit scattered. The table next to ours was seated after us, ordered after us, but received both their coffee and food before us. Did we get an acknowledgment, let alone an apology? No. Not the worst, but not the best. Then there were the various bus people and ancillary staff: after the party seated next to us had left, the girl came over to reset the table and instead of standing in front of the table, she stood to the side of it so that her butt was inches from our table and food. Do people really need to be told not to do that? All-in-all not a terrible time and the food was delicious and a good value. But with so many other places to go, why would I go back to a place that made me feel undervalued?

This place serves consistently delicious food, bakes tasty pastries, and always provides excellent service. I have been here a few times before, but today's visit prompted this review. I had the BLT, which is decadently assembled on a house-baked croissant with a fried egg, basil sauce, and avocado to boot! The bacon was thick yet crisp and the lettuce and tomato were high quality. With some slices of fresh, sweet fruit on the side, it was heavenly! My servers (the receipt said Jody but everyone I encountered was helpful) were concerned about my comfort, enjoyment of the food, and made me feel welcome to enjoy the afternoon with my book on the patio even after my food was gone. I am worried about the calorie count of some of their food, but hey, it's French cooking--what do you expect?! Come visit. You will not be disappointed.

We should have known the moment we walked in. The guy at the desk couldn't be bothered. We waited 20 minutes to be seated which isn't bad for a Sunday morning. My salmon omelette tasted like canned salmon the potatoes were not cooked and the squash was chewy. Our toast came out 10 minutes after our meal. My husband said his omelet was average at best and he had a hair in his omelet. The one good thing? The coffee and orange juice were good. Service? Non existence is the only description that fits.

This was my first trip to this restaurant, with some friends who are frequent visitors. The food was excellent for the price you pay. Prices aren't cheap but the food is good enough to feel you got you or money's worth. Warning...this is a trendy, hipster, type bistro. If you are looking for classic comfort food for breakfast, keep driving. You are more likely to find a prosciutto Eggs Benedict with carmalized onions in a burgundy reduction, than you are to find chicken fried steak with gravy. That being said, you won't be sorry going here. If you are unsure, start by trying a fresh made croissant with jam while you ponder the menu...they are outstanding. Then either be very brave and try something with a description you barely understand, or stay close to shore with a variation on a classic you recognize, like bananas French toast. The unique menu here may not be for you every weekend, but definitely give this place a try once and it will become a regular in your rotation.

If you are going to put glittery, bright colored gel icing on the dessert plate, at least make sure it tastes good. Why not chocolate or raspberry sauce? Lemon curd? No, sparkle gloss instead. Each time my friend accidental bumped into it with a fork she winced from the taste. The service: really bad. Yes, please leave my water glass empty whilst you attempt to take the plate with asparagus still on it away. Good job.

We luuuuuv this place! We've come here for breakfast, lunch and dinner and the food is just exceptional! The menu is different for all three meals, so don't go in the evening expecting to order a sandwich. The desserts are to die for!! We've tried so many different things it's hard to recommend any one particular menu item. Everything is good. Just save enough money and room for dessert and coffee. Oh, my mouth is watering just thinking about them again!!!

We recently moved from the Alberta Arts District, where we frequented La Petite Provence on a biweekly basis. Breakfast/Brunch at the Alberta location was consistently exceptional. We have since moved to Lake Grove, where we have been surprised with the varying quality between the 2 locations. 2 areas where these locations differ... Lake Oswego, by far has the better pastries. This is great if you want your coffee and a sweet to take with you. If you prefer to sit and eat breakfast/brunch from the kitchen, be prepared for some inconsistency. La Petite on Alberta has consistently better meals; where the pastries are less than those at the Lake Oswego, La Provence. In closing: for a comfortable French inspired brunch: go to La Petite on Alberta. For the best French pastries to take home: don't be discouraged by the long line and cut to the patisserie counter.

Best macarons in the the area. I usually get my macaron fix in the Pearl District, however this place is much much closer to home. They have tons of flavors and I really enjoyed their consistency. More chewy than crisp. I plan on coming here for lunch sometime in the future.

I eat here frequently with my husband and 4 year old. We generally do come at off hours since it can get very busy (arriving before 5 for dinner, after 1 pm for lunch). We love the small plates for dinner as you can get a great dinner for a very reasonable price - there are also lots of GF options which I appreciate. Lunch and breakfast here are also delicious. We haven't experienced service issues here on the off hours - servers are busy but reasonably attentive. The restaurant is clean and has a great ambiance. We love it and recommend it -

Yesterday, my kids and I took my wife to an early dinner for her Birthday and chose a place that is dear to us. I have eaten at other locations in the Provence family of restaurants, as well as the former location in LO. We know the quality and they did not dissapoint. The food was very flavorful and beautiful. The fare is all small plates at $5.95 and $6.95 so we ordered 7 different plates for 4 of us. They even had options for kids. The space is beautiful and very comfortable. I felt like we had great value. Since we had a special cake at home, we declined dessert, but they still brought a fruit tart on a plate decorated with Birthday wishes - very nice touch. We will definitely be back.

we went there on Sunday afternoon, it wasn't busy but service was very very slow and i had to call the waitress, the lady who came in after us also had to call them. Then we ordered a sandwich with potato salad but it arrived with fruit and the waitress didn't even apologize. The sandwich monte cristo seemed more a french toast, with even powder sugar on top... not sure what the chef was thinking..... Finally I ordered a 12oz cafe-au-lait and it arrived a 20oz.... I noticed that the waitress did not write down our order... maybe she'd better write down what customers order... We went to other Provence/PetiteProvence locations and we experienced every time a very slow service. hope it gets better...

Disclaimer- I have lived in inner SE Portland for about a decade, so most times I go out for brunch, I pass 3 amazing brunch places on the way to the brunch place I usually wind up at. There are more amazing eateries within walking distance of my house than I can even fathom. (There's also a La Provence a few blocks away which I have not tried.) I traveled to Lake Oswego for my girlfriend's grandmother's birthday. I have no idea what the standard of comparison is for local food. General observation- La Provence's website has autoplay music and you can only see their menus by downloading PDFs. These are both big taboos in website design for reasons that should be self-evident. The experience- okay, I expect a wait for brunch, but as other reviewers have noted, many similar places have a coffee station. La Provence had a coffee bar, but that's like having a separate business instead of a customer courtesy. My girlfriend was informed she could get a cup of coffee from the coffee bar and get refills once we were seated. She was charged at the bar. I will say that the bus staff went out the way to quickly and politely clear the table, and all bus staff were overly friendly during the entire time. The food was...okay. Not bad, but certainly not great. A lot of the ingredients looked like someone ran to a grocery store for last minute supplies. The tomatoes in several dishes were a sad pink color. Again, I say this as someone surrounded by great food from local farms, so maybe I had the best tomato in Lake O, but I imagine not. While the bread wasn't bad either, i expect a place that is focused on being a bakery to be at least above average. The biggest complaint was the service. Many places, if you mention it being someone's birthday, will work with you to do something special for them. Apparently La Provence does have a birthday tart if you repeatedly remind the staff that you ordered one. While the water and coffee refills were plentiful, my girlfriend needed to remind the waitress that she ordered Orange Juice 3 times before it actually arrived at the end of the meal (4 times if you count a busboy). When it finally arrived, it came with an explanation that the waitress was having a "Tiff" with the bartender. While the place was busy, there was a virtual army of waitstaff, and we often saw our waitress looking rather unbusy. Between the 5 of us, many of us have worked in the service industry enough to tell if someone looks busy or not. We also have a general idea of when a person's body language suggests "I'm busy and stressed and having a hard time". We were getting more of a "I just don't like doing this" vibe. When the check came, we were charged for my girlfriend's coffee a second time, and for an extra item that we were told could be substituted to make an item safe for someone to eat. The issues were resolved, but it was one too many straws on the camel's back.

The new location is a definite upgrade from the last location. It's in a nicer plaza, the place itself is cleaner and better kept. The decorations are more upscale. The last place felt more like a homestyle cafe. The breakfast menu supposedly has not changed. Not sure if that's a good thing or bad thing. I was not impressed with their breakfast in the past. The dinner menu is completely changed. They have small entrees for sharing. $5.50 and $6.50. They can still add up. The new menu is much better. Was quite disappointed with their dinner in the past. The new one is completely different. I really enjoyed the pomme frites (french fries) They were perfect. 5 stars. The outside has a very thin layer of crispiness and the inner layer is soft. Coated with garlic oil. The aioli and ketchup it comes with is also very good. The beet salad was also quite good. 4 stars. My wife thought it was a little on the heavy side but what do you expect from French food. The candied hazelnuts were delicious all by themselves. The croquettes were also pretty good. A combination of vegetables fried into a croquette. There was also a heavier cream based sauce to go along with it that was quite good. 4 stars. The childrens Alfredo pasta with chicken was just ok. 3 stars. The tuna tartare was different but still good. 4 stars. It was lighter on the flavors than most tartares most I've had in the past but again a cream based sauce on the side in parallel lines added to the flavor. There was supposed to be wasabi caviar but didn't really taste the wasabi. The fish seemed pretty good quality. 4 stars. The service was excellent. Maybe because it's new but they were all (including the manager who was really visible) really trying all they could to make it a pleasant dining experience. Will definitely be back to try some of the other items on the menu.

Great breakfast, brunch, lunch, pastries, and deserts! However, I would have to take a star off for the dinner-- the concept of small plates is great, but a bit overpriced and way too small portioned. Go before 4pm! ** It can get pretty noisy during busy hours.

Love this place! It's a cozy place to grab a quick meal or stay awhile a drink a nice glass of wine. They have small plates that change often and are very well priced. I have tried the warm spinach salad, escargot, mint lamb, onion soup, and more. All very delicious little bites with exception to the lamb. It was a bit dry and the bacon wrapped around it was all fat and not rendered. We have sat at the bar both times and have had great service with the food coming quickly. Will be back for sure. Oh I forgot to mention they pastries! I want to try them all. Have only tried the macaroons which were heavenly.

I've been a fan of La Provence for several years. The meurette benedict with provencal potatoes and butternut squash is lovely. I loved the mushroom and goat cheese quiche. The french onion soup is also amazing. As for pastries, the brioche, croissants, and palmiers are really to die for. I've only been to the new location once. I really enjoyed our experience, despite the fact that it was a very busy lunch hour. We were seated promptly with a great view. Our server was efficient yet unobtrusive. The food came quickly. It is always relaxing, and I love to come here to enjoy good food and drink. Also, we had a fabulous server named Stacey. If only we could have Stacey every time - perfection! She's awesome, and I hope they never let her go.

Service was just ok here. Food was good but not amazing. I love the dessert bar and how they have so much going on here. It's always busy. I sat at the bar and had breakfast. Their play on Benedict. It was interesting. I made some adjustments to my order like sauce on side and onions but onions came towering. Over croissant making it soggy so was not enjoyable. The rest of the menu looked good and I am excited to try dinner. Next time

Bustling French bistro with buttery croissants! This was my first visit. Came here for brunch arriving at 11am. We were seated right away in the upstairs balcony. The restaurants was pretty full and the fresh breads and pastries at the door smelled delicious. I ordered the Colette Omelette which came with the choice of sides. A warm butter croissant was brought out first with Brie and jam. It was perfect! Next the omelette which was a little greasy but still good. The fresh fruit side came with several types of fruit which I appreciated. Service was good. Attentive without being invasive. I would and will definitely return!!

This is my favorite brunch spot in LO! The berry stuffed french toast is to-die-for. I have yet to try a dish on the menu that isn't delicious. Every dish is packed with flavor, without making you feel heavy. The pastries are amazing - it's hard not to walk out with one of each. Portions are small for dinner, but they do list them as small plates that on the menu, so be prepared to order a couple. I've yet to have a bad experience here.

Everything we ordered was above average and quite tasty. It's definitely a step up from the corporate chain alternatives for a brunch spot. My salmon salad was tasty, although I found a number of bones in the fish still. The pesto sauce on top helped give the fish some flavor, as the vinaigrette dressing on the greens had pretty much no flavor. Kiddo really liked his grilled cheese - it had a rustic look to it and plenty of cheese pouring out. It came with a side of fruit (grapes and blueberries in this case). I tasted a small bit of my mother-in-law's croissant and it was light and flaky and tasted yummy. Good thing I only had a taste! Since we were a larger group and it was New Year's Day at noon and packed, we had to wait about 15 minutes for a table. Our server was lively and spirited, but we weren't sure if she was in a good mood or still hung over from NYE... in any case, she was on top of our orders and refilled the coffee often. The baked goods in the front cases look delicious. I sampled the chocolate muffin and some apple bread or muffin - both were good but a bit on the dry side. So maybe they look better than they taste?

Excellent place. We were here for dinner and tried almost everything on the menue. The small plate menue is perfect for sharing. Salads are all excellent . Kobe beef sliders were wonderful. Then we did four of the deserts, all rocked. Can't wait to come back for breakfast as I hear that is even better.

My husband and I love La Provence. We have been there for breakfast about 5 times in the past couple of years. We love it because: 1. They serve up a very good breakfast. 2. The food is beautiful - almost picture perfect. 3. They always have interesting menu items. 4. The pastries are divine! 5. Friendly and good service 6. The coffee is very good 7. Prices are reasonable Cons: 1. Very cramped entry way. There is no where to stand while you wait to be seated. We love this place :)

I have been there a few times, and it is always CRAZY busy. Despite the promise of a good meal (that one would think the crowd would be indicative of) it was disappointing. Now- the food was for sure edible, but nothing special. My friend's eggs were way over poached, and the sandwich I had was pretty boring. A time before this the omelet I had was overcooked and really bland. NOT worth the 30 minute wait that is inevitable when you venture to this spot. The service was also average. When our waitress talked to us she was very friendly and welcoming. However, the only time she talked to us was when she took our order, and brought our bill. Once again it was very busy- so maybe this is a staffing issue-but she did check in with the lady sitting next to us multiple times. Reasonably priced- but I'm not planning on returning because spending $13 on something I don't really enjoy is not a habit of mine. I've given them a few chances, but each time my food, and the people I am with, is very sub par. The atmosphere is awesome, though, and I love their coffee drinks. Also the croissant I had on the side was the shit! Basically- not worth the wait.

I don't give 5 stars lightly. La Provence deserves them all. We have eaten breakfast, lunch, and now dinner at multiple locations. LO is my fav. Outdoor seating is wonderful- on even a slightly chilly day, they have heaters. Tonight we had petite entrees . The ratatouille in crepes was phenomenal. Who would've thought? The tomato basil soup, while good, was too tart and needed more cream. But that is a personal preference- still a very good soup. Pork and chicken cordon blue dishes were fantastic. The most amazing panko breading on the chicken with a mouthwatering sauce and perfect veggies. I love small plates! It was the perfect amount of food. I have had their monte cristo before which is excellent. Breakfast was equally yummy. Definitely one of our fav places when we don't want to go to Ptown.

I had the opportunity to have brunch with my Oregon pal and all things Oregon related guru Jen K. this week. We decided to meet here since neither of us had time to go into Portland and this place was local and not a chain I could find back home. Jen arrived a few minutes before I did and I met her at the table. I ordered iced tea to drink since I wasn't quite in the mood for coffee and our waitress wasn't able to tell me if the coffee was strong or if it were more diner type. Jen and I decided we would split one savory and one sweet breakfast, she choosing the risotto cakes with poached eggs, potatoes and butternut squash, and me ordering the "special" crepes with fresh berries and whipped cream. Service was underwhelming as were the crepes. They were the least crepe like crepes I have ever tried seeming like more of a rolled up pancake and kind of rubbery in texture. The "fresh" berries lacked sweetness and well, I had a couple of bites only as did Jen. As for the savory dish, the risotto cakes were fabulous and seared perfectly. The eggs were a little more done then I like and though I know that poached eggs hold their shape best when boiled in water with vinegar, I hate tasting the vinegar on the whites. The squash while lovely in flavor were undercooked and after reading Jen's updated review, I am awfully glad I didn't try the potatoes. The savory dish came with a starch choice and the croissant we had was pretty darned good. All and all, I would come to this restaurant again and maybe Bill B. would be willing to give it another shot when he is next up visiting his folks? So, Jen, if you are reading, I am lucky to have found you and though we didn't get to see each other in 2010, I am hoping to do more catching up when we are back in the area at Christmas when we have more time!

I've never had a bad meal at La Provance, in fact they make my favorite pastry's, cake and quiche! They have hands down the best baked goods and the monte cristo is the best i've ever had....and the corned beef hash...excellent! I recommend going in on a weekday to avoid a long weekend wait, but even then it's worth it. Just get yourself a latte and a muffin and tough it out.

The Petite Provence on Alberta is one of my regular haunts for breakfast and brunch. But I'd heard good things about the dinner experience at La Provence, so we took advantage of one of the last warm evenings of summer and met friends here for dinner on the patio. The service was attentive, and of course I enjoyed the baked goods (like the bread). I wasn't expecting small plates, but I always enjoy ordering a variety of different things to try. The mushroom pesto crepes were excellent; I can go either way on mushrooms, and this was arguably my favorite of the things we ordered. Really, all of the food was good; french onion soup, salmon, salad, cheese plate. The only downside, truly, was the wine. They must've poured my glass from the bottom of the bottle, because there was a ton of sediment in my glass. And I really mean a ton -- substantially more than a teaspoon, including large chunks. I don't mind a bit of sediment (I order full-bodied reds, after all), but this was a bit off-putting. Perhaps my expectations were just too high because of all the raves I'd heard from friends, but I just felt a bit underwhelmed. I would come back here, certainly, with friends from this part of town, but I'd rather stick to Provence for breakfast and other Portland spots for small plates and dinner.

When I walked in, although there were two hostsesses standing and chatting within 3 feet of me, neither acknowledged my presence for 2-3 minutes and only after I'd asked them a direct question about the pastries did they seem to be aware that I existed. My sense is that if your hosts aren't going to host, maybe the sign should say: Seat Yourself instead of Please Wait to Be Seated. Being seated, I asked if they had wifi since I needed to do 30 minutes of work over coffee. They said they did. However, as soon as I sat down and flipped open the laptop I found that the wifi was down. So then I order a pastry and an Americano and the check arrives before my Americano does. My entire stay was about 50 minutes. It was hot and I'd gulped down my water in the first 4 minutes, but nobody ever refilled it. Sorry La P, you never get a second chance to make a first impression. My Americano and brioche were lovely, and the omelet and crepes the ladies next to me did look like quality work but overall, I was not impressed. Or rather, I was impressed, but negatively.

Great food and nice setting for a brunch/lunch/dessert/ coffee date. I had the roasted pear French toast with pecans- amazing! And my chai was served in a mug the size of a small child's head. Will definitely be going back to try the pastries!

The new location is great and very appealing to the eye. Agree with other reviewers that the staff could be better coordinated. The hostesses were a bit on the cool/snooty side on each of my visits. The food is excellent though and the croissants some of the best in town. Nice little daytime cocktail selection, too, and prices are appropriate. It was nice not to have anyone rush us out of there. Once the waitstaff and the hostesses get a little more polished, this place could get 5 stars.

The new location is certainly spiffy! Their previous digs, down the road a bit, had a relaxed provincial feel to it. No so now! Busy bistro mania happening here..and I am glad to see full tables at La Provence. I have patronized this fine establishment many times and the food, be it breakfast, lunch or dinner, is always top notch. Trust me on this...our family had a flat above a bakery in Juan Les Pins where I spent many summers enjoying authentic French breads and pastries. La Provence comes through on the food. Let's do something about the service end of things shall we? I have visited on three occasions since the move. The first time I was seated promptly then ignored for over ten minutes. The Maitre D' finally noticed my perplexed look and asked if he could be of service. Perhaps the attention of a waiter and a menu? Why did the waiter not know the correct presentation for pastis? This is a French restaurant. Why was my companion presented with my entree and vice versa? Pay attention! This is your job so take pride in doing in it properly or make way for someone who cares and can focus. I waited far too long for my bill. These are all management issues. Please fix it! I love you Provence...I want and expect magnificence, not mediocrity. I want you to excel on all fronts. More effort on the missing links please. The second visit was for breakfast on a busy week-end. We were seated within twenty minutes. My waitress was unfamiliar with the menu. Unacceptable. All three of us ordered the same breakfast, yummy risotto cakes with poached eggs. One of us ordered the eggs over-medium. The waitress who brought them to the table, not the same person who took the order, did not know which was which. Unacceptable. Fix the missing links please. My third visit was for coffee and pastries. It was a sunny afternoon, we sat outside, it was busy. You took my order promptly. I was served in good time. Where the heck is my bill? Fix the missing links please. Look. I love you La Provence. As the daughter of an obsessed and eccentric restauranteur, I was taught to respect the foodie and the food, so you see that I speak from my gourmand goddess heart. You have the potential to be truly great...a shining oasis of culinary delight in SW PDX. You have successfully expanded your business and I for one, am happy to support you with disposable income and recommendations. Having re-defined it, please refine it and make us proud. Merci.

An upgrade from your neighborhood Shari's, la Provence is a French breakfast diner much like the ones you see on the corners in the city suburbs of many European countries. The store is known for its breakfast and lunch, but does serve dinner at its new location. The price tag for the dishes are inexpensive, about 8-12 per for breakfast and lunch and a few more dollars per for dinner entrees. The setting is very outdoor cabin/country inn-esque. It serves a full bar with wine listings, as well as a front counter full of dessert delicacies. The menu items look fantastic, ranging from salmon hash, European BLT, quiche, and an assortment of salads. I had the salmon and it was very good. Not too oily for the hash brown, and just enough for the baked salmon, all covered under your egg of choice. I am personally not a dessert lover, but even just taking one look at its dessert bar, I can already imagine several of my sweets-loving friends salivating all over the glass covers. I will be bringing them here and will be back for more in the future. Perhaps a different meal and at a different time.

I have to give them a single star because of the poor service that comes when ordering cakes from the bakery. At my work we do a birthday celebration every month and love to get two different cakes from here. Their cakes are delicious and there is quite a variety. But unless you order ahead of time the variety that they offer gets dropped done to about 7. Of course the 7 are great options but we wanted to place an order for two that we hadn't had yet. The website says they need two days in advance for special orders. Due to this being a problem in the past we called on Friday even though we don't need the cakes until the following Thursday (6 days!). Just to be sure we could get the ones we wanted. They asked for a deposit on the order but the woman paying for the cakes was not in on Friday. We told them we would call back with a card number. So we called back today which is Tuesday, (2 days before) and they turned us down saying they wouldn't be ready in time. Are you kidding me?! How much time do you need?? Why would you say one thing on your website and then not follow through? Terrible customer service in my opinion. Without fail we buy two cakes from them every month. We are loyal customers and are always friendly when we place our orders. In return we get rude people treating us like garbage with no one willing to work with us. No one wants to be treated poorly and especially when we are spending a lot of money on expensive cakes. Unfortunately we are forced to take our business elsewhere.

I frequent la provence, as it's close to my work. I started coming here when I needed a coffee and had to find a new joint when Starbucks started remembering my name and beverage of choice. I might be the only person ever who can't stand that, but for whatever reason it's always my queue to mix it up and find a new place. I digress, back to La Provence. Here's what you need to know about La provence: *It's a bit chaotic. There's the restaurant area, the bar area and the pastry grab and go area. If you're a first timer, prepare to be a bit flustered and probably expect to wait a bit for someone to figure out you're there. It's easy for people waiting for tables to be lost in the pastry line. *You will receive a massive portion *Their pastries are amazing and full of wonderfully bad things *You will leave full of butter and carbs, which is great granted you like butter and carbs.

I must say I was very skeptical of eating at a french restaurant, purely because I have never been to one. To my pleasant surprise the breakfast was amazing. The front waiting area filled with delicious pastries really sets the rest of the experience. While there it was pretty busy with a lot of large parties, but to my surprise the service was amazing. I would recommend this restaurant for a breakfast date.

We stopped in around lunch time and were immediately greeted by a very friendly employee. When inquiring about dinner, she strongly encouraged us to return, stating that it was well worth it. We did return that evening for dinner--only to stand at the front and wait....and wait...The couple before us left after they'd been waiting as well and had arrived sometime before us. We asked another employee if she could assist us, and she went to find (what we learned was the Manager). Apparently, he was too busy to attend to his customers and was "upstairs." She seemed quite upset about it and really wanted to help, but had been told by the Manager to bus the tables instead of seat people, which apparently she'd been assigned to originally. While this was going on, not one employee (even those standing right behind the bakery counter near us) offered to assist us. Also, they have a beautiful patio area in which you can dine, and it appeared that ALL of the available wait staff were tending to customers seated outside. The bartender even noticed us waiting, but again, did nothing. Seems to me that if employees were really happy, they'd be thrilled to have you there and would go out of their way to make the customers feel more at home. We will give them a couple more months to work out the kinks, but it's probably best to stick to breakfast or lunch here for now.

Yum. They have amazing pastries. There should probably be a gym nearby to deal with all the guilt from this amazing food. Plan on a line and some crowds, but it's worth it!

If I could eat her for breakfast everyday I TOTALLY would! I used to frequent this place when it was just a "petite" cafe in LO but their new location is pretty awesome not to mention the numerous additions to the menu! The last 3 times I've been there I have ordered the risotto cakes because they literally melt in your mouth.... They're TO DIE FOR!!!! Take my advice.... GET SOME!

I love La Provence! It's definitely my favorite brunch place in the 'burbs. The food is amazing. I love the risotto cakes and eggs. My husband always orders the monte cristo. I have never ordered any of their pastries, although they look beautiful. And I've never been there for dinner. But I would give the brunch a 5 out of 5! The new location is gorgeous and I love the patio in the summer. A big improvement to their old location. It looks like it can better accommodate the big crowds. The only thing I'd complain about is the long waits to be seated. Get there early! I've never had any problems with the wait staff. The hostesses could be better.

We loved the new La Provence location and ambiance when it first opened. Have had great experiences and some not so great. But.... I think with a few changes this place could be fantastic every time. The food is usually very impressive and the prices are very reasonable. I love the sharing of small plates for lunch and dinner! Most of the time we have good service but my biggest issue is with weekend breakfast. We had a bad experience a few weeks ago when we arrived at the restaurant only to have 3 names ahead of us at 830AM. A normal person would expect to wait but with 3 ppl ahead I didn't think more than 30 min. It took 1 hr and 10 min for our party of 4 + high chair to be seated. We watched about 20 tables (not an exaggeration) get seated ahead of us. Almost all 2 tops and one 5 top (that was ahead of us on list). The others came in after us. The Host needs some serious training or replacement. He never smiles, and not very attentive to the patrons. It's apparent that he'd rather still be in bed. He never asked if we wanted coffee or a pastry while we waited SOOO long with a 2 year old. He should have alerted some of the servers to keep an eye on 2 tables closing their tabs that would have been able to seat us. Like 2 tables right next to each other. Instead, every 2 top that got up they re-seated immediately so the 2 or 3 tables that accommodate 4 ppl just sat there occupied. Ive worked in many restaurants and he does not belong in this busy restaurant on Sat and Sun mornings. Every patron had to ask how long the wait was. He never volunteered this information. Then, to add insult to injury when he was ready for us he said " Are you ready now?" Like we hadn't been sitting there for over an hour. It has scarred me for breakfast unless there are only 2 of us. I think a better host could make a huge difference. They need to know how to manage the seating of tables and be polite and courteous!! I live so close that I'm sure I'll be back and hope to have a better experience next time! I still go in for pastries take-out. Delicious ;)

I love the food and the new location, but have to agree with a few of these other reviews. Some of the waitstaff seems to be a little out of order. I stood around for a few minutes before a girl asked if I had been helped, I said no, and she just walked off. Nothing came of it. I had to find someone to ask to be helped. Once I was helped, it was great. The Rhone was tasty and I enjoyed the Kobe sliders. The escargot was buttery and flaky and quite scrumptious. I really dig the ornamental grasses outside, too. Beautiful new place, but it would benefit from a few better experienced servers.

Ate at La Provence the other day for Sunday brunch. Be prepared to wait a while. They told me the wait would be about 20 minutes, but it was closer to 45 minutes before I got served. When I went inside, I could understand why, because the whole seating area upstairs was not being used. That being said, the food was very good. I shared traditional eggs benedict with my husband, and it was very yummy. We also got a pastry, and my husband wasn't too keen on sharing that with me because it was very good. I had a grapefruit mimosa and my husband said the coffee was yummy. Make sure you get a pastry on the way out for your breakfast the next day. The pastry was very good, but not as good as the one's you get in Paris, but at least the drive was closer.

Invited here by friends who live in the area: a working breakfast early one mid-week morning last week. VERY nice: courteous, efficient, well priced, daily specials and a host of menu staples. Off-street free parking; plenty of fresh juices and great coffee. Will go again, and often, if ever in the area!

Arrived 20 minutes too early for dinner on a Sunday. Ended up with a very limited lunch menu. Got French onion soup with salad. Salad was weeds with something very, very bitter. Had a few bites and gave up went to work on the soup. It was watered down with no taste also no bread with the soup + salad ? Never going back for lunch. Should have just got the pastry and gone someplace else.

My mother and father-in-law found this place and WOW. I will be bringing all my visitors here for lunch or breakfast. They are busy but worth the wait. If there is a wait then there is a grocery store to wander around. The food is great, the service is great, and the price is right.

I've eaten here a few times, at least once for each meal. I really wanted to like it, since good French food can be tough to find. Alas, my experience has generally only been fair. I had breakfast with my folks yesterday, and we were generally nonplussed by the food. The Hollandaise on my eggs Benedict was pretty thin, and the use of a thick slab of ham rather than Canadian bacon was odd. The eggs themselves were definitely a high point, though the toast was not--twice the size of a normal slice, the bread was a dry, dense variety that became a brick after toasting. Service started strong and friendly, with our server even offering to custom-create an smaller order when my mom found the menu options too large. When another server cleared my dad's plate, she had no reaction whatsoever when he commented that he thought his meal was lousy. I didn't expect much, but an apology, or inquiry about what was wrong would have seemed appropriate. While the atmosphere is quite nice, I doubt I'll be fighting the crowds to visit again. TRIVIA: Although Hollandaise sauce dates back to as early as 1651, eggs Benedict is far more recent a dish. Its origin is disputed (which isn't uncommon), but most claims cluster around the turn of the 20th century. Celebrate the centennial by having some yourself!

This place has come a long way from a few years ago, when I wrote this: "The food was just bad. My omelette was so fat-ridden from the cheese that it was sitting in pools of grease. The avocado that came with my omelette was not ripe at all (i.e., I needed a knife!). The potatoes and butternut squash, usually a win, were a little over-cooked. My brother's order of eggs benedict with carmalized onions and bacon were soggy." They do a great job...good-sized portions for very reasonable prices. Food has gotten a lot better. Their bakery is amazing, with delicious croissants, delicate and tasty cakes, and other beautiful treats. Service is very friendly and helpful. No wonder they got popular. Get ready for at least a little bit of a wait for a table!

One of the best, wait it IS THE BEST place for breakfast. I have dined here at least a dozen times and all have been FIVE STARS. The food is amazing, the service always top notch, and plenty of staff to keep waters and coffee filled and tables cleared. The poached eggs are heaven and don't even get me started on the pastries. When the warm croissants come out of the oven, the warm buttery smell is HEAVEN ON EARTH!! The small plates at dinner are also yummy and worth a visit or twelve.

Delicious. Nice-sized portions, perfectly seasoned, with wonderful surprise touches. Loved the risotto cakes with poached farm-fresh eggs. We ordered croissants to go with breakfast, and they came to the table slightly warm, with raspberry jam and a slice of brie. Everything tasted as good as it looked. Service was expert and unobtrusive.

This place is usually packed, which can be a good thing for their business but bad for people who have to wait in line for an hour to get a table or sit in such cramped areas :/ I am not really a breakfast person but I was surprised when I ate their salmon with hash browns. The only reason I will return is not for their food or service but to order myself some croissant and jam to go. The jam is what I crave for!

I brought my mom here during our annual mother daughter weekend. We had coffee and a croissant while we waited. We sat outside on the heated patio where we were pleasantly comfortable. Our server was amazing and kept our coffee cups full. We ordered a cinnamon roll as well - which was delicious. Every breakfast entrée looked delicious and the two we had were equally great. Wonderful.

I LOVE this little slice of Europe in my own back yard!!! It has charm, AMAZING food, and service that makes you feel at home :) Yes the food is good but I always say you leave a business thinking of how you were treated, and I have never been disappointed. Teresa was a lovely server!!!!!!

I think the new location, staff and food are FANTASTIC! I have never been disappointed at the Lake Grove La Provence. Obviously, I am not alone because the place is always packed. I have even started going to their Happy Hour to hang out in it's great atmosphere. Breakfast, lunch or dinner.............they won't let you down.

I did not expect this place to be both comfy and elegant at the same time. Maximum use of space yet good privacy in terms of distance to next table. Great croissants for sure and great breakfast food. I ordered corned beef hash. The potatoes are nice and buttery yet flaky. Service was good even while they were busy

This was one of those serendipitous nights, when things didn't go as we planned, and it worked out better. We were actually heading to the pub next door but it was closed; and that's when I noticed La Provence was open. Not wanting to drive another minute for food, we decided to give it a shot. I should remember to thank the restaurant next door for being closed. I tried to order rib eye ($17). Sorry, said the waiter, they just ran out. He suggested that I try the Beef Bourguignon, which was a special tonight. Hubs ordered the Duck Confit; a perfectly fried, crispy duck half accompanied by excellent green beans, a marionberry sauce, and potatoes gratine. My Beef Bourguignon was simply the best I've ever had, and I've been a BB devotee for many years. It was outstanding. Served over bowtie pasta with green beans alongside, the sauce was robust and flavorful, the mushrooms abundant, and the meat perfectly tender. It was THE perfect meal for a chilly fall evening. I enjoyed it so much, I actually thanked them for running out of the rib eye. A dnner for two of this caliber for $36 is nearly unbelievable. The service was impeccable and the manager stopped by several times to chat and talk about the restaurant and their plans. I strongly recommend they put the Beef Bourguignon on the regular menu, and I'm looking forward to trying the French Onion soup.

Went there today for a business lunch with a former colleague I hadn't seen in quite a while. This was her choice and my first time. Our waitress was spot on. Perfect timing, was attentive but not obtrusive. Especially impresssive since it was in the middle of the lunch rush. BUT...the server that brought the food was not our waitress and brought the wrong order for me. While standing next to the table holding the plates he asked which one of us had the turkey sandwich and we told him neither of us he then put it DIRECTLY (within 1/4 inch) in my face to the point I had to lean back to not get a plate in the face. He then repeated the question moving it once again closer to my face to the point I had to push it away. Told him that I ordered the BLT and he ran off and brought my order. No big deal, he grabbed the wrong order but shoving the turkey sandwich in my face?!?!?! The BLT was served on a Croissant which was fresh and wonderful. The accompaning salad was very good, and the dressing was the perfect amount. 5 stars to our waitress 4 stars to the food 1 star to the kid who shoved the turkey sandwich in my face Will be giving this another shot-close to the office, good food, excellent service and the pastries looked great.

It's been years since I've been to the Lake Grove location, I LOVE the new spot. THe location is a lot more accessible, and being right by Zupan's makes it a convenient place to stop in to. The building is updated and a huge improvement from where they used to be at. I've only had breakfast there one time, and it was okay, nothing that really blew my mind. However, the pastries, The PASTRIES!! Oh yes, the pastries are definitely worth writing home about, or writing a good yelp review about. ;-) I'm sure in the past 30 years macaroons have entered my mouth and passed through my alimentary canal, but when I had macaroons here, this is the first time I've "eaten" a macaroon, consciously and savored the taste. I got a few of the mini one's chocolate, raspberry and orange to try and they were amazing. The raspberry had the hint of raspberry jam texture, if you are a fan of raspberry jam, you will know what I'm talking about. In addition to those, I also recently purchased a large chocolate passion fruit macaroon and it was amazing. Not overly sweet, but just right, and it had the right amount of moisture and everything was beautiful and delicious. I intended to eat half of it, and share the other half with my husband, but he was too slow getting to it, so it was all enjoyed and savored by me. Their eclairs are also really good too!

Great service, great pastries (comparable to any place I've been to in LA, NY, elsewhere...don't be deceived by the slightly homey/french chic decor), great dishes, great espresso/cappuccino drinks, great prices. The breakfast plate came with a croissant, 4 pieces of bacon, 2 eggs, and tons of butternut squash and potatoes. For $8, you can't beat it!

came here for lunch on Monday with a friend. I'm rarely in this area so didn't even know this little gem existed. upon arrival, I was mesmerized by the beautiful pastries in the display case. thankfully we were immediately seated so I didn't have to be tempted for long. the menu was one where I wanted to order one of everything just to try it all. my friend, who works in the area, assured me everything was wonderful but I went with what she was getting because I knew it would be wonderful: a BLT croissant. this was definitely one of those once-a-year indulgent sandwiches filled with everything delicious. not only was it topped with unfatty bacon, crisp green lettuce and a super ripe tomato slice, but also avocado and a fried egg. I savored every bite and didn't want to finish it. look forward to returning for breakfast or just pastries when I want to indulge again!!

Incredible food and outstanding service. Walk out floating on cloud 9. For breakfast I adore their chef omelette topped with avocado, sides of fresh fruit & a buttery croissant. The jam is finger licking good. Grapefruit mimosas are a must.

Loved The small plates concept so we can try a few things. Went for dinner and, between us, had the French onion soup and the watermelon melon salad to start. Both were excellent. Next we had 3 small plates: trout, scallops, and pork. The pork was good, but the scallops and trout were amazing! Often, fish is overcooked, but these two plates were cooked to perfection. The service was also excellent. We enjoyed the experience so much that we retuned for breakfast the next day. Hubby ordered the bread pudding and loved it! I enjoyed the Chet's omelette with butternut squash, potatoes and a fabulous piece of rustic sourdough toast with fresh raspberry jam. Can't wait to the next time were in town -- we'll be back!

Great food, wonderful fresh baked bread and tasty soy lattes. I can't eat dairy, so the menu is very limited for me, but the salads are big and delicious. It's higher end so the food takes a little longer to make and the prices are a bit higher as well. It's a good treat every one in awhile. On the weekend the wait can be long, but if you time it right you won't have to wait too long.

The best bakery and french-style restaurant around. I feel like I'm walking into a real french patisserie when I go in. They have an amazing assortment of tasty treats and cakes/cookies. I love the croissants, so moist and fresh tasting with the perfect flaky finish. I would come just for the croissants but they also have good coffee drinks and yummy eggs and potatoes. I had a veggie croissant sandwich that was also good. I'm a vegetarian and am never short of options here. If you want to be naughty you can opt for the banana foster french toast!! What!! Is that even a thing? Yes, it is. Yum. I like the atmosphere and decor, lots of people here and usually busy but mornings are less so. I'd love to come in for a dessert sometime! Definitely check this place out if you haven't been. A Lake Oswego favorite. Cute to-go boxes also!!

5 out of 5 stars. This was my first time going here, and it was for a work team breakfast. The staff was friendly, the service was quick, and the food was absolutely on point. I had the corned beef hash that was perfectly cooked. The croissants were delicious as well. The ambiance was that of an upscale Boulangerie, yet the prices were reasonable. I definitely recommend this to anyone that likes great food, friendly service, for reasonable prices!

Ashley-The worst waitress ever. We love coming here and we come here pretty often and we always loved their food and service. Tonight's experience with her was a huge disappointment. Food was great as always tho! She never smiled, or she never came back to check up on us, or she rolled her eyes 3 times as she was walking away. I pointed out her mistake and she probably didn't like it was why. Everyone makes mistake and that's okay. But bad attitude is not a mistake and that's not acceptable. Then I complained as I was leaving because of her bad attitude the whole time. Then she laughed at me in front of my fave and rolled her eyes again. Really. That's really unfortunate for La Provence to bring down their images by worthless server like her. We were there to enjoy our dinner, not to get angry and feeling wasted our time. Like I mentioned earlier, we LOVE their food and we haven't had any negative experiences like today every before. I hope she won't be here next time we come. Food won't taste as good as they should be if she is there. On the other hand-ladies at bakery section are always nice and super friendly! Love coming here to get pastries:) I would give more than 5 stars for those ladies if I could. Perhaps Ashely can be trained and learn how to serve better by them.

Dinners are smaller portions. The intent is for each person to order a few different items and share, which I'm a huge fan of! The dinner items were tasty and coupled with a cozy (& heated!!) patio area, it made for the perfect afternoon. The desserts, however, were the highlight. Make sure to save some room and order a few of them. Again, the portions aren't huge so don't feel bad if you have (want) to order more!

My parents love La Provence. We have lunch together at least once a month and usually come here. I have visited over a dozen times. I usually order the Eggs Benedict. It is good except the hollendaise sauce is not traditional. It is thinner, milkier, and void of lemon flavor. Once I asked for a side of it, and they came back 30 seconds later with it.... Still I can not seem to stop ordering it because if Eggs Benny is on the menu and it does not taste awful, I order it. I wish they made a traditional hollendaise, the restaurant would go up 1 1/2 stars in my book. Another note: the service can be a little hit or miss. Bringing wrong entree, forgetting coffee, slow water refills, etc. Overall it is a cute place with good pastries and is always busy. I grappled between 3 and 4 stars, bottom line for me, if I'm the one choosing La Provence would not be my first choice in LO.

Awful service. I work in the area and often orders lunches for the company. 90% of the time when I order from here, there is at least one order messed up or it's not ready on time. I also wished they would have a separate place for take out orders only because lines can be get really long... Just based on service alone, I would not dine here. The food menu is just ehh and honestly don't look great either.

4.5 stars overall We stopped in here for brunch before heading back to Seattle and while waiting to be seated, I ended up selecting a whole box, yes a box, of pastries to go (half were for the fam). 5+++++ stars for their pastries! We sampled our goodies when we got back to Seattle and they were ALL so delicious! Everything was fresh and tasted amazing. Perfect amount of sweetness, soft bread, and fresh fruit. 4 stars for their brunch. The bf ordered their benedict special that is a combo of bacon, mushrooms, and onions sauteed w/ some kind of wonderful sauce over a toasted croissant. Fantastic. I ended up stealing more than a few bites from his plate. I also sampled his hashbrowns (you get to pick either hashbrowns, fruit, or a mix or potatoes/butternut squash) which complimented the benedict well. I had the salmon omelette which was good, but the eggs were overcooked. It was more firm than soft, maybe bc/ they actually mix some of the ingredients into the egg then fold it over into an "omelette." My breakfast also came w/ the choice of toast or a croissant, and of course I went w/ the croissant which was buttery, flaky, and went perfectly w/ the fruit jam it came with. Portions were generous, I was stuffed and barely touched my sides. Price wise, good. about $10-15 per plate. Pastries were between $2-$4 each. Service was friendly and efficient. We had to wait 30+ min for a table of 6 on a Saturday morning, but that's to be expected. Our waitress was personable and my coffee cup continued to be refilled w/o being asked. I would definitely come back, but i'd probably skip the omelette and stick w/ the benedict. And of course, get another box of pastries.

If I said I would go here every day if I could, I would not be exaggerating. Breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner, happy hour... you really can't go wrong. All of their pastries and desserts are TO DIE FOR. Their prices are so reasonable for the quality & presentation of food that you get and their service is always good. The only downside is there is typically a little bit of a wait but I guess that just tells you how popular this place is!

I recently revisited La Provence again and was utterly disgusted by one of their wait staff. The last few times I visited I went with other adults (my husband, my girlfriends...etc.). However, this time (for the first time) my husband and I brought our 4yo son in for an impromptu dinner. Since I was used to good service & food, it was an obvious choice. However, I was dismayed at our male server (probably mid-40s who wears black-rimmed glasses), who never acknowledged us once. After about 10 minutes of waiting he came over with a scowl and said "have you decided?" - we said, "um, can we start with some water please?" We started to ask him a question but he briskly turned around and walked off to serve a table of 4 women their wine (so kindly and with a smile on his face, might I add). Finally, after we received our water, he came back and we asked about the menu. He was abrupt, short and not kind at all - basically seemed annoyed that we were in his section. He then threw his hands up and said "Well I'll just come back when you've decided" (this was all in about 3 seconds that we tried to ask him a question and were cut off). With that, we ended getting up and walking out because we did not want to continue being served in such a hasty manner. I did speak with the manager on duty (sweet asian woman), who offered our son two cookies for our trouble. She was the only delightful thing out of the entire evening. Needless to say, I'm not sure we'll be back as a family (and I've seen plenty of families in this restaurant). But if you read my first review - I did comment on the waitress... Not even sure I want to go back at all now... Such a bummer.

Definitely, LOVE the new location! LOVE the new menu. LOVE the new set up. Our waiter, Francois (the tall dude) -- gave a great service, very polite and HE KNOWS HIS FOOD. He set up the table for 10 people outside.... and all 10 of us are very foodie and picky... turned out to be such wonderful night! Thank you so much.... Will bring back a big group for breakfast soon! :)

Excellence place for breakfast! We arrived with 4 people around 930am and were able to be seated within 10 minutes. It was pretty busy but not too loud and our waiter was great. He had an authentic French accent and good menu recommendations. Supposedly the alcohol drinks are a great deal with happy hour prices all day long. We went with the fresh squeezed OJ, Mimosa's next time. The food was plated beautifully and delivered without a problem (our order was pretty complicated too). The fruit was very fresh and the croissants are flaky, buttery and delicious! My poached egg was a little watery but it was easy to drain out. I recommend sharing dishes because they come in large portions. Lastly, the decor is very neat and classic french-cafe style. It gave me the feeling like I was dining in a boutique hotel downtown.

I love this place, quality food, good prices and creative dishes and pastries. Great lunch and the petite dinner plates are a great way to try various different dishes in one sitting. Desserts and coffee are amazing, decor and staff make you feel like your in France:-). Can't wait until the one in beaverton progress ridge opens up because I'll have this in my own backyard!

Can't say enough good things about this place. The food is fresh, service is usually very on point, crossaints are amazing fresh from the oven, and the prices are very reasonable for the ingredients, in my opinion. Lines form on the weekends so I try to sneak in there during the week.

This is by far my favorite breakfast establishment. The ambience is wonderful and very classy. It's not uncomfortably pretentious which is always relaxing when eating. The staff I'd incredibly warm and helpful and I've never had any reason to complain.

Portland BLT review: I saw a picture of their BLT and figured this would be the hands-down winner. More accurately, they sell a BLEAT (+avocado, egg). Everything tucked into a fresh croissant. The side view of this thing is something to behold. The place was packed - always a good sign. I took a seat at the bar. I was served quickly, but then all service broke down. For such a hop'n establishment, I did not expect that. Back to the meal... Unfortunately, presentation did not represent the dish. I noticed the romaine was fresh, just no crunch. It's difficult for me to fault the lettuce since it was fresh, but this is the filter I have - it must crunch - basics for a BLT. In addition, the tomato wasn't ripe. Fabulous bacon, and the avocado and egg were a great addition. Big kudos for the pesto aioli too. Alas, the basics come first... especially, if you call it a BLT. It's not like the sandwich sucked - no, on the contrary, it was definitely good. Just not a good representation of a BLT.

The bakery is wonderful. Happy hour is a great deal and very tasty. Great option for groups of friends and family-style sharing. Lunch is also good. Besides the actual quality of food, which is usually quite good, the service is consistently poor. On a recent visit, it took 30 mins before our order was taken and the server was distracted - making eye contact with other impatient tables while half-listening to me and my friend. It was the worst experience in terms of service, but it was not an isolated event. Generally absent minded servers that purposefully avoid eye contact and seem reluctant to help or answer questions. I am not a demanding customer, it's just hard to even get water sometimes. The food makes the trip worth it but expect a wait and less than great service.

Best birthday cake I've ever had. Chocolate ganache with coffee vanilla and chocolate mousse inside. Absolutely to die for. Got to try it. We live a mile and a half away and go for both brunch and dinner. Best Brunch in Portland area and the small plates for dinner let you have several tastings. Fairly priced for quality. Often a wait but they will text you when ready so I go grocery shopping in the zupans next door while waiting.

Always a pleasure eating here. Food is amazing and reasonably priced. Delicious brunch and desserts are so good! I love the macarons and the salads! Also, my boyfriend always gets the tuna sandwich. Don't forget to check out the bakery- save LOTS of room for dessert! :)

Their croissants rival those from France and Italy (just returned). Their entrees for breakfast, lunch and dinner are fresh, innovative and get out fast. For breakfast, order the salmon hash... That dill sauce is outta this world. Lunch they do good sandwiches and salads. Dinner, the quinoa salad is fantastic, as well as everything else. The sliders and chicken cordon bleu are fantastic!

Exploring bakeries in the area and decided to give this one a try after seeing all the reviews, I ended up getting a few maccaroons and a coconut bamba and it was delicious!!!!! So hard to choose from all the flavors of maccaroons but I ended up liking the strawberry coconut and salted caramel the best! So good!

This is such an adorable little bistro to spend a rainy afternoon, while enjoying lunch or breakfast. It's really hip & quaint inside. I cannot speak for their dinner menu because we've only been for daytime meals. Their pastries are out-of-this-world, I cannot even pick one favorite!! They will make you whatever type of coffee drink to go with your meal, the staff is very accommodating. My hubby loves the monte cristo sandwich and the mushroom/goat cheese quiche is my favorite! Enjoy!!

From the pastries and the breakfast menu, to the coffee and the service, this place is spot-on. I've never had anything I've disliked here, and I love that the breakfast items come with a croissant. I can tell this is the type of place that gets really busy during peak breakfast times, so I make a point of getting here right when they open. I've also tried a few of their desserts and cakes which have been quite delicious. They don't quite earn the 5th star because I wish their menu was a little bigger, and that their entry/waiting area was less congested. The people waiting for tables are all bunched up in front of the pastry section and the front door, so there's lots of traffic right when you walk in. Also, a few of the front tables are right by this waiting section, so you can spend your whole meal with people standing right next to your table watching you eat. I understand there's little they can do about it with how the building is currently laid out, but it's a little off-putting.

  • Sierra B.

Thanks to the delightful service provided by our experienced French waiter, breakfast at La Provence was a treat through and through. First of all, the building and decor are lovely, but you're going there for the food, oui? From the flaky, warm croissant to the delicious, locally-roasted coffee, to the seasonally-appropriate Printemps Omelet bursting with fresh flavors and textures, this is the right way to start your day. Or, the right way to finish your day- If you are tempted to go home with a chocolate lemon graffiti pastry, a fruit tart, or an assortment of macarons, do it! You will not be disappointed.

Excellent place for breakfast. Went with the family, all of us ordered great food. Service was outstanding. The menu wasn't overwhelming. It was just right for both the price and ambiance. It's in Lake Oswego off Boones Ferry Rd. This place comes highly recommended. Get your butts over there and give it a whirl. I am most certain you will not be disappointed. Their coffee is good too.

I have dined at La Provence many times, but the last three visits soured my impressions. I promised my visiting family I would, "find another breakfast spot next time." The table was served incorrect orders and was missing croissants. We were left with empty coffee cups, burnt French toast, soggy benedicts, dense, dry muffins, and all the dishes were accompanied with underdone potatoes and oily squash. Meh indeed. The service ranges from friendly and apologizing to nonexistent, and the communication between waitstaff and cooks is in need of improvement. After my last visit, during which my dish was incorrect and returned not once, but twice. .. . I have decided we are not returning.

  • Lindsay L.

Yum, yum, yum - everytime! You can usually catch a seat in the bar even during the busy weekend brunch time. Most people don't think you can just grab a seat there so it's my easy go to instead of waiting in line. I love their omlettes! There is additional parking in the back if you don't find a space on the store front side.

  • Jesse D.

Great pastries and nice place to eat. Been here a few tines and it seems lines are meaningless. Always feel like getting attention or knowing someone there is how you get served. Which is wierd they have a section for a line.

  • Renee E.

Awful service!! Slow, incomplete service to the table - the four of us got our food 10 min apart - yes, person 4 served 30min after first plate. Server brought food twice with appetizer plate still on table and acted incredulous that there was no room to put the meal expecting us to bus our own plate. To make matters worse, when we got there told a inside table is now ready but waited 25 min - for a table that was empty the whole time (went past table to restroom just as we arrived). DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME

I love this place. I have been a half dozen times and I love everything on their menu. My coworkers and I are breakfast connoisseurs, and we sample new places all of the time to find the sweet spot in terms of distance, money and quality. I walk away from La Provence with leftovers, stuffed, each and every time. Their baked goods are made on-site and are tremendously tasty, their breakfast and lunch items are top-notch, and their coffee ain't bad either. Try the Meurette Benedict eggs or the Monte Cristo or the scrambles-- all amazing. If you're a carb-lover try the berry pancakes, which are no joke at all. Breakfast and Lunch are both available until 4:30, so it's okay if you want a sandwich and your buddy wants eggs.

I really love this place. The new location is a delight- although the other location seemed more cozy and was for sure less busy than now with business. I have been told that on weekends when the wait is long- there is a guy serving up free crepe samples while you wait. How amazing is that? The breakfasts are beautiful and large-portioned. They also have added a lot of selection to their many desserts and pastries too. Prior to the main course for breakfast- most entrees come with the choice of a gigantic croissant with raspberry jam, butter, and brie cheese. So good and a very delicious bonus. The breakfast is certainly amazing. However, be aware that it stops at 3:00 pm. We came in once wanting breakfast at 3:10----the menus all pointed out that breakfast is served until 4. Well, we were told that the menus were false, no exceptions. We bailed out for Chinese instead. Except for that situation-----I have always been very pleased with this restaurant. On occasion it has been known that the wait staff will give you extra fruit, bread, or pastries, just to brighten your day and add an extra touch to your meal. Go, go, go to this place for a wonderful breakfast that won't disappoint.

I just had a wonderful lunch here. Their sandwiches are delicious and the drinks are also pretty good, but the real strength of this place is the sweets. This is a place where you cannot skip dessert. They have the most amazing french pastries. If you have no time for dessert just take it to go. You will be happy you did. My favorite? The Black Beauty cake. It is just a piece of chocolaty perfection.

Love this place! Best breakfast place in town. We always bring our friends when they come to visit us. A few things to work on is hostess customer service. It's not always friendly. And dinner food could do a little better in the taste department. Will always come back for breakfast!

decent food for the price, but once again another "fake fancy" place for Portlanders and Lake Oswegans to go that makes them feel special...Any reviewer that gave 4 stars or more needs to get a new palate transplant because it's "alright" and nothing more...Zupans next door has better desserts and their cheesecake resembles a drier version of Sara Lee...

Saturday morning in LO means waking up early, La Provence, and the dog park. I love the croissants here as well as breakfast entrees, the coffee isn't that great though. I give it a four for being my favorite LO spot for breakfast but it is more for ambiance and something local (not Biscuits!) than it is for five star food. I love their outdoor seating in the summer too. The little coffee shop across the street is the best latte in the hood so sometimes I'd park at one and get a croissant from La Provence and a latte over there :)

My wife and I came for an early dinner on a weekend. This was our first time to La Provence Bakery & Bistro and right when we walked in, there's a chalkboard that tells everyone to please sign their name. As we waited for about a minute with no kind of greeting, we then thought, "Well, I suppose we should sign our names." As we were signing our names, a waiter came by and asked: "What are you doing? Why are you writing your names?" We mentioned that we were just following what was written on the chalkboard. He then mentioned it was only for breakfast service and then showed us to our table. Not the best first impression, as he kind of made us feel stupid for just following what we thought was the correct course of action. Anyway, we came for the french onion soup. And it was pretty darn good! The side salad we both had also was quite delicious. We also snacked on a selection of the bread that was part of our dinner, which was a nice variety of fig, wheat and other kinds of breads. We did not sample any desserts or take home any sweets. They did look quite delicious, though. SO, pretty good food... but the service was lacking. With the first impression being not very good to our waiter telling us that he was "always right" because he's French, this knocked off a couple of stars... which is unfortunate, really, since the food was quite good.

Amazing food, even better dessert. The first time we were here we came before the dinner rush and received amazing service which included an extensive conversation about wine pairings from one of the actual owners which ended up including a small complimentary wine flight. This was outstanding personalized service and the meal we received (starting with the absolutely amazing french onion soup, main course of um... I can't recall the actual proper French name but it was shrimp over savory rice and ending with cappuccino and a fruit tart) was beyond five stars. The overall experience of that first trip has never been surpassed by anyone anywhere in any restaurant I've been to so far. Freaking love this place. I'd marry it if I could.

Love the pastries...and typically love the food. They have moved to a new location and it was very crowded and loud. While probably good for business they lost the 'homey' atmosphere that made it one of my favorite brunch places in LO. Still, its a great place for lunch or dinner.

Ordered the risotto cakes and eggs at lunch. The risotto cakes were good, but I was disappointed by the poached eggs on top. They were poached hard, not even a trace of runny yolk to complement the rest of the dish. The butternut squash side had good flavor, especially compared to the bland potatoes alongside. I would like to visit again to try one of the delicious looking pastries or desserts from the display in front.

This place is amazing!!!!!!!! I didn't know it existed until today. Another one of those places you don't typically see, but the absolute best food, service and pastries!!!!!! A must see to believe and the place is beautiful, fun to see as well. Breakfast and lunch are comparable with other restaurants, but dinner is very inexpensive. They have really unusual but wonderful combinations.

I hate to say this kind of thing, but the staff at this restaurant (specifically, the all the hostesses and waitresses) make me feel out of place every time I come. Maybe because I am a shade darker than white, or maybe they don't think I can afford the food, but they are NOT welcoming. Horrible customer service as soon as you walk in. Can you imagine that??? Well, its real in this place. I should have my very white mother come in here and ask for the seating. I might get better treatment. However much I love the croissant, I will not be back to this place. Racism or a dislike for people who are not WASPs or whatever else causes the attitudes of the hostesses has no place in America. I know it is more common/acceptable in France but no need to try this kind of French authenticity on American soil. It is really sad when I have to explain such things to my non-American friends. Out of fairness, I will note the excellent customer service I received at the pastry counter on several occasions and the Division St location (Petite Provence). Maybe the staff at the pastry counter can train the rest (esp hostesses and waitresses) on customer service?

Visiting from out of town but SO LUCKY to be taken to this great restaurant. We had a late breakfast. Service was quick and unobtrusive. Food was good, artfully arranged. The whole effect was "Paris Cafe" in particular Cafe de la Opera. Mine was the Brule oatmeal - never saw that before and it was absolutely delicious. Fruit side was fresh. Cafe au Lait was authentic. Edith Piaf ambience made it evoke past Paris days and happy memories. Highly recommend without qualification.

A very charming and cozy breakfast place near Portland. Service is pretty good but we had to ask for coffee refills. The servings are huge, so come with a large appetite!! I ordered the eggs benedicte, which I thought was above average, but not stellar. I could not finish the whole croissant. The ham was a bit too salty for my taste. The garlicy potatoes were pretty good. My friends ordered the day breaker, which consists of toast, sausage, eggs, and potatoes. The sausage was incredibly delicious with its rich smoky flavor. It tasted home made or freshly made. You also cant go wrong with the pancakes because they are so light and fluffy. I tried a few morsels but I could have certainly eaten a whole stack of them. I also sampled the french toast with caramelized bananas and a very very rich English creme sauce. The creme sauce was heavy and overpowering.

Great service, great food, and great coffee. The day I had brunch here I didn't need to eat the rest of the day. The food is amazingly rich, and while I'm a sucker for a beautiful pastry, I couldn't even look in the direction of the glass cases filled with them. So my next trip will be for a pastry only! Oh and a mimosa - they make them so pretty :)

I have been going to this restaurant for well over 20 years and I have to say the service has always been terrible but the food was always good. Looks like I am done with this place even with all the good memories.

Went here for breakfast with the family on a weekday and were seated right away. We liked the buttery flavor of the croissants, but all of us agreed that the dishes we ordered 1) Berry French Toast 2) Corn Beef Hash 3) Benedict and 4)Omelette were tasty, but just a little too busy with many different flavors going on. It was quite heavy and filling. Service was friendly and attentive.

When we arrived the restaurant was crowded and we were told to wait, which was fine. We decided to eat at the bar tables outside and three people, including one of the owners, helped us. We were helped by several other people after we were seated. I think this was the best customer service I've received at any restaurant. Everyone was pleasant and accommodating. The food is amazing. I love eating here.

Just went to LaProvence for my birthday and the food and service was wonderful. We had made reservations for 9 people @ 12:30; because of the windy weather they were much busier than they anticipated inside the restaurant. Manager Bob (I think he was the manager) came out several times to let us know what was going on. They were able to seat us about 5 minutes past our time and then we received our food quickly! (They knew we were on a lunch hour.) Then, because it was my birthday, I received a beautiful dessert on a plate that looked like a greeting card. Bob and the rest of the staff were very attentive and friendly. I will be going back to try and work my way through the menu!

I love this little bistro! Weather I'm picking up pastries or having lunch, I am always delighted by their selection. I give up. I've been to the Lake Oswego restaurant four times. it's very nicely done inside, but the menu is limited. The service simply horrible. Each time the food comes out, it is incomplete, i.e., missing items, or not fully cooked. Try getting another cup of coffee. Today I had a late breakfast. The toast was rock hard. I ordered beef hash with the eggs over firm. They were so undercooked the WHITES were still runny. From experience I know that if I send it back, l may never see it again. Service slow, the cooks are amateurs, the waiters seem a bit stoned. I give up. No more.

Service was okay, guy taking my order took two phone calls, but a second waiter was really nice and personally delivered my latte. The latte was okay, she burnt the soy (which is easy to do) but the almond croissant was so amazing. This is my favorite pastry in general and I am always on the hunt for a good one. Holy smokes was it good!! Buttery flakey dough with a perfect not to sweet marzipan filling!!! I will be dreaming about this for weeks.

We love the food and the service is always good. We go often for their evening small plates & dessert. However, last time, a woman approached us telling us "our waitress was worried about us." She wouldn't tell us why and after asking us several personal questions said she was the manager. Although we had ordered 2 small plates, wine and dessert, it was obvious she was pushing us to consume more. People at the nearby tables were eavesdropping and we were very embarrassed. We had never seen a manager there before and our waitress gave us the usual good service and didn't seem "worried" at all. They didn't need the table because it was 8 pm and there were plenty of empty tables and we only stayed for under an hour. Please train this manager not to harass the loyal customers who always return for the good food and ambiance.

The Americano espresso is GREAT! Rich & smooth. The pastries are beautiful, though our blueberry muffin was a bit dry. The children's breakfast meal was a good value at $4.95. Large portions. The homemade sausage for the kids was tasty. The kids ate it up and wanted more! Their croissants must be a specialty; fresh & flaky. Definitely recommend them. We ordered the brie scramble. The eggs were placed on top of a firm, bread base. Plenty of flavor & nice portion. Enough for two unless you are a big eater.

La Provence is great! Upscale food, great bakery items, nice ambiance, and a decent price. When my in-laws were in town, we brought them here once for breakfast... and then two more times during their visit, for they insisted. We've only eaten here for breakfast, and though their menu is limited, it's excellent food. We'll have to try dinner some night. You can't go wrong with La Provence for breakfast, though.

This place rocks and is our new favorite brunch spot, even though it's 18 minutes through the backroads of lake oswego to get there. Yummy breakfast, decadent pastries, and a goat cheese salad that will knock your socks off! Worth the wait on a weekend...

Wow, I stopped by here after a lackluster Thai food dinner to try La Provence's desserts. We had a raspberry-chocolate tart and this amazing dark chocolate layered cake thingy. OMFG, it was fab-u-lous!!! They also had a guy playing live guitar. It was very relaxing and nice to sit on the patio, eat some amazing chocolate and listen to him play. It was sad, though, how few people were there on a Saturday night. I am now very curious about what their regular (non pastry/breakfast/dessert) food is like.

Some of the best breakfast you can get anywhere in the world and for a great price. I ordered the risotto cakes with poached eggs on them and man you can't go wrong and for only 8.95 truly a bargain! Did I mention it comes with the best croissant you have ever had and the best raspberry jam you have ever had in you life. All in all I haven't seen any food go by me while dining there that doesn't look amazing.

Dear Conversation: I didn't know what you were, on the top shelf in the case. Your beige meringue peaking through the latticed croissant crust. When I found out about your almond paste filling I knew we were meant to get to know each other better. And oh did we. I enjoyed you on the drive into Portland, and even a little bit left over the next morning with my tea. You were just lovely. Just a pleasure. Thanks Le Provance- next time I'll save time for a whole meal. Your pastries are Delectable. xo jm

Let's start with saying my parents (the diners) were not very happy with their brunch experience. They were given the wrong bill and were simply not impressed. The smoked salmon hash was tasty though. However, I ordered a dish to go and found it delightful! I got the Provence BLT. It was delicious! Bacon, avocado, tomato, lettuce, FRIED EGG (with runny yolk), basil aioli, in the middle of a delicious croissant. It doesn't get much better than that! I can't wait to order again!

Noisy and chaotic breakfast :-( We've given La Provence two attempts for breakfast and each time we were disappointed. Especially because it was recommended to us by friends. The first time we were seated in the back and forgotten - so we just left after 20 minutes. The second time we seated in front surrounded by tables with very noisy toddlers. The acoustics up front are terrible - amplifying every noise and making a conversation nearly impossible. If you like the noise unpredictable service and general chaos for breakfast, this is the place for you!

La Provence, it's not that you were horrible. You just weren't good. At all. I had hopes. The frenchy-yum-yum sounding name, the lovely pastry cases that greeted me at the door, the complimentary baskets of rolls sitting on everyone's tables. But then you took my hopes out back and beat them with a broom. or something like that. One of our chairs was covered in a sticky substance that we tried to wipe off before giving up and just switching it out for a chair from another table. Those rolls? never materialized at our table. I watched a bus boy bus the table next to us, picking up several teapots at once and proceeding to pour tea all over the table, 2 chairs at that table and the floor all the way from the table to the kitchen. When he finally noticed, he just wiped the floor off with a couple of napkins and left the large puddles of tea all over the chairs. And to top it off, our food was the definition of meh. Basically, eating here was like bleeding to death from a series of small wounds... No one thing ruined my experience, but the overall package left me less than impressed.

I think the first thing people need to understand is that La Provence is following the European style of eating. Meaning people are supposed to take their time & enjoy the conversation & food. At a recent visit there our server was even kind enough to hold our infant so we could eat. This was a nice luxury. He also took our preschooler to see the kitchen! That was a real treat for him. As far as the food is concerned everything I have had there has been amazing. So if you have some time to enjoy the company you're with and want great food to be a part of it I suggest La Provence.

Practically the only place to eat in Lake Grove for good food unless you want to spend a lot of money at Riccardo's. Excellent pastries and bread, wonderful sandwiches....especially the pork with carmelized onions, and generous salads. The salmon salad with lentils is excellent and the chevre salad is also very good. They serve Nossa Familia coffee, my favorite. My husband and I discovered they are open for dinner--it was lovely. There was live music, which was unexpected and fun.

Now, mind you.. we went there around the closing time & looking for a few pastry to share after a meal. Since it was recommended & seems to be on everyone's list. The pastry (danishes & pan au chocolat) was clearly under baked, barely had any color on it, and Opera Cake was way dry. By the mouth feel, it was probably made w/ shortening. Visit again? hm... don't think so...

We have been here a few times now and always have such wonderful treats! I love the almost croissants and its always a must have. We had breakfast here the other day and the food was also very good. I had the omelet and my mother had the veggie croissant sandwich. Both were perfect! There were a few small things which cost the place a 5 star rating is that every time we go and get treats to go, the staff ALWAYS forgets at least one or more things. I wish there were more potato's with my dish and they served my croissant with no jelly - only butter. Who eats croissants with butter? On a cool little side note though, someone was having their b-day lunch there and the entire restaurant sang happy birthday to them. :) Its the small things in life, is it not?

The wait is a little long, but who can remember when you're surrounded by pastries and cafe for your consumption. i took my eight year old niece and she said if she could drive, she would eat there every day. I think the ambiance sold her. The portions are enormous and it's so tasty you can't stop. The menu is perfect for the lounging around crowd. We've gone back a few times.

BEHOLD!! The magic sandwich! Ahhhh, a light & flaky croissant, caressed by a basil pesto mayo, lovingly topped with green leaf lettuce, ripe juicy tomato, crisp, flavorful bacon, sliced avocado, &, ........... wait for it, .............. wait for it, ................................. a cooked to perfection fried egg!! Oh the heaven that is eating this sandwich! i can no longer speak of it, for mere words do it no justice. P.S. 4 stars b/c service lacks luster to say the least.... but I would have given a half star back for them letting me have my magic sandwich on Sunday, when it is only on the M-F lunch menu!!

I've been here many times through out the years, and during my last visit I asked myself, "Why do I keep coming here?" The food is good, but not anything spectacular. The prices are too high, and the service is not good. My waitress was nowhere to be found during our entire meal. I had to ask another waitress for water refills. Our waitress forgot my toast, and took about 5 minutes to bring it out. Maybe it's a French thing, but the toast they choose to accompany breakfast is a joke. It was huge, dry, and not a fitting slice of bread for breakfast. When given the option, go with the muffin. Although the muffin isn't worth writing home about either. I figured out why I keep coming back. It's only for one reason. The almond croissants. They're out of this world. Pop one of those babies in the microwave for 15 seconds and welcome to your own personal heaven.

I love the food and pastries at this place. I'd like to run in for a coffee and pastry, however, the parking is horrific! The new location does not have enough parking. The owners did not negotiate any short term parking. A huge improvement would be to add a couple 15 minute spots at the door.

I had been wanting to find a great neighborhood brunch spot, so I really wanted to love La Provence. Unfortunately, there wasn't much to love. I ordered salmon hash and a bloody mary, and the entire meal was bland and forgettable. Also, there were children everywhere, which may appeal to parents, but not for me. Loud children are not how I like to start my day! The service was not very good, and I can't think of a reason to go back.

We had never been here before, used Yelp to find it, and I was SO happy to get to eat Sunday Brunch here! :) The Mimosas were the BEST that I've EVER had! They are served in a large martini glass and the juice that they use, is homemade and it was worth it! I had them mix half orange and half raspberry (waitress suggested it) - OHHHhhhh... I want one now! ;) The pastries looked so yummy in the case when we went to pay, but we didn't have room for it in our tummies! :) We WILL so be back when we get back down to Portland! :)

I eat here quite often with my husband. I love their food and pastries and coffee. The only downside is that the service is not the best. Everyone is friendly but rushed and a little unprofessional. I will still continue to visit because the food is worth it!

I had the beet-infused risotto with duck and it was awesome. I love this place. They have great pastries too. The waiter was a bit of a talker (I know some people like that sort of thing but I'm like ehhh bring me food). He made me this drink with lime sorbet and vodka and that was interesting. He said they were working on a new menu and might be going for a seasonal menu soon, can't wait to try it.

This is one of my favorite breakfast places in the area! I love their omlettes and especially that they are creative with ingredients I never would think of putting together. I always leave there with enough for the next day. Love the baked item selections.

Been here quite a few times, yes the wait can be long on a weekend, go early or try a weekday. I just tried one of the specials, Duck Confit Hash, absolutely amazing! Such wonderful flavors and tender sweet duck over french fries and roasted potatoes the orange rosemary sauce was perfect. I can't wait to try the Salmon Hash next.

It was our first time at La Provence and it was very good. I had the corned beef hash and it was really, really good. As it's a French bistro, I had to try the French Onion soup. It was very good - they didn't overdue the bread nor cheese. We'll definitely go back.

Okay, I'm knocking a star off because the last couple of times I went there for dinner it was sort of lousy. That steak I raved about earlier? Super tough and a big chunk of gristle which was not edible. However, breakfast is still a winner, and I recently had a glass of their fresh squeezed orange juice and loved it -- and I hate orange juice. I hope next time I go to La Provence for dinner the quality will have returned to what it was a couple of years ago.

Owned by a french couple, therefore it is just like dining in France. The pastry case is exactly what you would see in Paris. They have excellent little cakes that I like to buy for people's birthdays. Just enough for two. I have only been for breakfast and lunches and both are outstanding. The service is great, Lisa is my favorite waitress. The omlettes are unique and tasty. Even better, they are served with fruit! The coffee is way too strong and they have excellent vegetarian choices. This is a must go to restaurant!

My friends who have traveled through France recommended this to me, and it delivers every time I dine there. The sauces are rich, but that's why we go there. The deserts are satisfying, and the pastries are well done. But, get there early because once they sell out of your favorite they don't keep baking :(

I have only been here once for breakfast and it was the best breakfast I have had in Oregon. It was a great little place with an odd parking lot. We ended up parking in a gravel/muddy area, but it was just great to find parking. This place gets busy. The food was really good and I am hoping that I can make my way back there again.

DISS-APPOINTING! Hadn't been there in a while, so we thought we'd go. Wasn't that crowded yet, but service? So-so; Corned beef hash-the plate was a mess, A single-egg breakfast to order-true stress. The orange-slice garnish was dry & looked bitten; You can bet with this restaurant I am NOT smitten! On top of it all, their listing says, "Takes Reservations". NOT TRUE except for weeknight dinners. Give this place a pass if you want to have breakfast with friends (and be able to hear each other).

this place is just an awesome spot and fits in so beautifully with the lake oswego atmosphere as a little gem. These are the places that i love love to visit, and i walked in when it was drizzling outside and it just all felt so good to be in a charming setup. had the onion soup, which was good but nothing too great, but it was served with two huge slices of rustic bread that was better by itself than dipped, but for about $5, i'd do it again for sure. also split their signature sandwich...some sort of ham/cheese/french toast thing, and the first bite was so utterly unique, i literally stopped and my eyes must've opened like nothing else! the textures were crazy unique and the overall flavor was completely new to me. i moved away from portland to the food doldrums of california, but dang...places like this make me wonder why i'm not back

We had our family breakfast here this morning, we have eaten at their old location many times before and simply fell in love with the food, staff and ambiance. This time was a little different, the food mind you is still amazing and the staff if very helpful and polite and the new facility is stunning but the way the food was served a bit odd to say the least. Our daughter had ordered a side of bacon with her french toast that arrived to the table a good 15-20 minutes prior to the main course, about 10 min after her bacon arrived out toast/pastries arrived and it was still a good 5-10 min prior to the main course. The waitress did make apologies to our daughter and offered to bring her fresh hot bacon but she said it was not needed. Again the food is simply delish and the new facility is amazing, it features outside dinning and open side walls in the main room to make you feel as if your outside. We highly recommend giving this establishment a try for breakfast, my all time favorite item on the menu is the smoked salmon hash, the salmon is cooked with leaks and hash browns then they place 2 eggs cooked to your preference on top of the hash. The hash is then drizzled with a sour cream dill sauce that really pulls the entire dish together, it comes with either toast of your choice or very large fresh croissant. Like my husband and I do, you can exchange your bread item for one of the many specialty items in the front case, so today I had an amazing lemon curd turnover and he had the strawberry cream cheese croissant with his corned beef hash which also was simply heavenly.

I think I have only sat down here to eat once but I frequently order pastry and fruit trays for office meetings and seminars. Never have I been disappointed. The bear claws and and blueberry cream cheese coffee cake are my faves! It wasn't until recently that one of my co-workers informed me of INSANELY delicious veggie sandwich they have on their menu. I ordered it to-go yesterday on a croissant with a side of fruit and I kid you not, one of the BEST sandwiches I have ever had!!! They might lace it with a little cocaine or something incredibly addictive because I couldn't stop thinking about how GOOD the thing was... so much so I ordered another one again today for lunch... crazy I know... I just couldn't help myself!!!!

LOVE the new location - swanky, french, open and beautifully designed. My girlfirends and I love meeting here for brunch, and their dinners are a little known gem. They often have live music and a decent happy hour. And I always grab one of their delicious pastries to go on my way out!

Visited the Lake Oswego location for the first time today and was very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food and the efficiency of the staff, considering I arrived in the midst of lunchtime on a Friday. Yes, it was quite crowded, but I was seated at a comfortable table within a couple minutes (just enough time to browse the bakery items--WOW, like works of art). My server was prompt with beverages and order-taking, as well as refills on coffee. I ordered a bowl of french onion soup and it was perfect...perfectly hot, perfectly seasoned, perfect ratio of bread to cheese to onions! Also, the price was very reasonable for a generously sized bowl. I will definitely go again; I think I'll try the monte carlo sandwich then. I couldn't resist buying a dessert to take home, in fact the very one I espied upon arrival. I'm enjoying just looking at my marionberry crumble brioche, but I'm still too full to enjoy it right now, but later for sure!

Nice chicken sandwich. But when I went back for breakfast and picked the french toast! BIG mistake! It's awful! It has berries, some creamy buttery stuff and a mysterious sauce poured all over it. the pastries are not that exciting, nicely priced though.

Went on a Sunday morning for brunch. Had about a 5 minute wait. We were seated at an interesting table next to the window overlooking the patio. Took several minutes to get water, and asked about coffee or other beverages. Brought coffee without cream and without asking if we wanted cream. Took several minutes to get someone's attention even though several walked by but were oblivious to our looks and waves. Brought the cream and set it down with a vacant look. Wanted to ask a question but the waitstaff was not even paying attention to the table as she brought the cream. Ordered a muffin hot, thinking I'd put butter on it and let it melt in. Muffin was brought and server gone so fast didn't even have a chance to ask for butter. Luckily, the muffin was hot enough that by the time we got butter it was still warm. Food came, and once again just dropped off by runners and had wait for server to come by to ask for ketchup. Food portions were large and tasty. When it came time to leave out server had mixed checks up and while it worked to our favor, we asked about the others and were told, "we hope they call, so we can reimburse them." Then as we left, the two hostesses were totally oblivious and didn't even acknowledge us or say anything.

Delightful house-made pastries are a must in this bustling, well-lit local gem. This is a great place for brunch, and the whole menu sparkles. But it's also an excellent spot to swing by for breakfast on the go, featuring sweet or savory pastries and brioches for around $3-$4. Spectacular desserts, and juuust under the wire as an available after-dinner destination, remaining open until 9:00 most nights.

I have not eaten such great food in years!!! My husband and I went to Portland for our anniversay trip and found this restaurant on Yelp. We were very happy we did!!! The food is amazing, and the prices are incredible! Each dinner plate was $5.50/$6.50! In California, where my husband and I live, one such gourmet plate would cost around $20. Anyway, we were so happy we found this place that we ordered 7 dinner plates, 2 full-sized desserts and 1 dessert sampler (which comes with 3 different desserts), and we ate it all! We were in Portland just for a couple of days and we went to La Provence twice just to try as many of their amazing dishes as possible. Owners, please open the branch in San Diego..You will have huge success!!!

This is a fine choice for breakfast or brunch. If the parking area is full, you can expect a wait of 20+ minutes until you are seated. Timing is an issue because it is normally crowded (La Provence is not a well-kept secret), and the serving staff has understandable difficulty being prompt and attentive when the tables are filled. Also, if you enjoy good conversation with your food, it is much easier to hear your companion when all chairs aren't filled. The breads and pastries are delicious, and I've yet to sample a great variety but everything I've chosen was delightful. The breakfasts were well-prepared and filling. La Provence deserves its superior reputation. I heartily recommend it.

If you come for Sunday brunch, be prepared for a wait even if you have reservations. We waited for over an hour even with reservations for Sunday brunch and then waited another 45 minutes to get our food. I believe that the kitchen is too small to accommodate the larger amount of customers and tables in the new place. The food was good, however.

I have eaten here several times, and having a notorious sweet tooth, have eaten DESSERTs here (credit: Sylvia c) a few times above and beyond that. The great: Their sandwiches are fresh, served on AMAZING thick, crunchy bread, and come with sides like potato salad that had more than just potatoes and mayo (egg, spices, did I detect some sort of cream?) The pricing is very reasonable for lunch! My workmate went to subway which was right next door and I wanted to smack him! For a dollar more he could have had a truly wonderful lunch, instead of something dead and souless... The good: Soups, salads, some of their desserts. Believe it or not, I have yet to have an awe inspiring treat here. How is this possible? It is not for lack of trying, I assure you. I've had a lemon poppy scone, (A lil too sugary), a petit four (not quite chocolate or cake-y enough), an almond chocolate cookie (no chocolate taste at all), and a slice of coconut/custard/cake/thingie - very good, a lil too custardy. Also, unlike many french bistro's, they are happy to make a change to what you ordered to accommodate you. I changed one to remove 2 ingredients (cheese, and tomato), and add 2 (avocado, and mushroom). It was delish. There is also plenty of seating, though the wait staff is not always super fast to seat those waiting. The so-so: OK, I know I said their soup was good above. I had the salmon chowder. it was good. But they put BACON in it? Who puts bacon in a seafood chowder? a) Pigs can't swim b) Bacon is cheating food wise - I'd eat bacon covered poop, probably c) I'm a New Englander originally, so this upsets my sense of propriety Also, the parking pretty much yanks it. Yes, you can find a spot. But waiting for the Portlanders to get in an out of this lot can be a side project in and of itself. Will I go back? Yes! early and often, the food is damn good...but not quite a five I'm afraid. say no to bacon in seafood chowder!

Brought out-of-town family to La Provence for breakfast. One thing went wrong after another. First, a couple of glasses were dirty. Ordered a glass of milk, it was a third filled and had lip prints on the glass. Looked like it was taken off of a vacated table. They didn't get my order right. We all ordered toast, it didn't come and when we asked about it we were told their toaster was slow. When it finally arrived...it wasn't even toasted. It was a cold slice of bread...not even remotely toasted.. The worst part...my mother's food had a hair in it. Not that I expected a discount or complimentary meal...but we didn't even get an apology...nothing. By this point, we were extremely frustrated and literally losing our appetites. Finally, my Father's pancakes had onions cooked into the bottom. When he pointed it out, he was told "Well, they cook them on the same grill as potatoes and onions.". He was not offered new pancakes...and he was too shy to press the issue and ask for new ones, so he picked through his pancakes and was able to eat about half of what was on his plate. To top it off, at that point we felt as if the staff was avoiding our table. Terrible experience. Will never go back. Avoid. Even if it is a busy Sunday, the cooks and servers should have better attention to detail and at least have the kindness to apologize and admit to their mistakes and try to make them better.

I stopped here for breakfast on a whim while in the neighborhood. I was pleasantly surprised by the innovative breakfast menu with it's French orientation and inclusion of lots of fruit and vegetables. I ordered the poached eggs on risotto cakes with a side of sauteed potatoes mixed with butternut squash. I saw several other creative breakfast dishes, but ordered this and was pleased with the result. Eggs not over or undercooked, and side sauteed potatoes & squash were satisfying. The side croissant was buttery and delicious, worth the guilt pangs re calories. I usually skip breakfast in restaurants due to boring, starchy menus but enjoyed my hearty breakfast here. Service was fine, decor okay for breakfast or lunch, probably a little "homey" for dinner. I'd go again if in the neighborhood, but not too often. Not gourmet, but satisfying.

Outstanding. I went for breakfast on 6/4/11 and had one of the best breakfasts I have ever eaten. I would definitely go back. The savory French toast topped with asparagus, ham and cheese was amazing and the scrambled eggs were fluffy and delicious. The meal was served with a Brie dipping sauce that was amazing. No need for butter or syrup for this French toast. The service was fast, polite and unobtrusive. Best of all, it was a good value. Not cheap but not overpriced.

The food is great. Fresh ingredients. Lovely servings. I have been there both for lunch and breakfast. Loved the hot turkey sandwich covered with cheese. Great cranberry mayonaise. Very tasty. For breakfast, just about any meal is very nice. We have had the french toast and eggs benedict. Both cooked to perfection and yummy. So, why the 3 stars? The service is really lacking. After we sat down and were given menus, we were ignored for over 15 min. I finally flagged down the busboy, and asked for our server. A substitute one came and took our order. Coffee and ice tea refills were hard to aget. Such a shame for such good food. Food is great, but be prepared for delayed and slow service.

La Provence in a word is "okay". Saturday morning I was hungry for a decent breakfast not too far from the home base so I yelped for something nearby. I think the other reviews I read were fairly accurate about this place. Food was decent, better than Shari's but not above mediocre. I had "LA Provence" omelet with potatoes and rye toast. It was okay but over-taxed with salt by the massive quantity of feta that covered it. The rye toast was the best part of the meal. As for the service goes, I was lucky enough to get there "early" enough to beat the morning weekend crowd. Even though there were plenty of open tables I still had to wait 5 minutes to be seated (just one). The server took my order and I got my food in a respectable time but the cute young blonde girl seemed to be "out to lunch" and not so attentive. Long story short, The service is really under par. I think they could use better management. As I left I saw a good deal of people outside waiting to be seated (while there were plenty of open tables) and all I could think when I saw their faces was, "it's going to be a long time before you guys get through with this." Maybe the LO crowd enjoys long waits, I dunno.

Ridiculously good pastries. It's my go to place for breakfast or lunch.......but I always order breakfast foods. One "beef" is I always ordered the salmon hash and they now butchered it with under-done leeks, and potatoes. They changed the cut of the potatoes to the detriment of the dish. That said, order something else and it's fantastic. WAY better than St. Honore.......

My wife Juli and I discovered La Provence a few years ago and have enjoyed the good food, pastries, and drinks ever since. Service is usually good albeit a little stressed on the waitresses at times. Their pastries are excellent in the morning, the Bloody Mary's are a real treat, and their signature French Onion Soup is by far one of the best in the Northwest! One thing that stumps me is their parking - it always seems full even though at times the restaurant doesn't appear to be that busy. Sunday mornings however usually have a line of customers waiting outside. Be ready to wait at least 20 minutes in this case. All in all, a very good French restaurant.

Excellent breakfast food. Salmon hash, eggs benedict, and low fat muffins!!

Slow service, not attentive. Had the berry french toast and would not recommend it. Between the berry cream cheese slathered in the middle and some yogurty sauce on top, it doesn't taste nearly as good as it sounds.

Tucked deep away into Lake Oswego's inner echelon, I notice people out here still believe Uggs are in style. Maybe they are here so I won't go into that, but the overall ambiance was nice. Very old fashioned French motif. My favorite dish on the menu was the homemade sausage; I recomend it. The woman recommends eggs benedict, which I don't like but I hear it's the bomb so I'm giving this place 3 just because I liked it but didn't love it. But I went a second time and tried the croissants and they're the best I've ever had so I bump it up to a 4. but overall wasnt to bad at all service was solid

Three stars aren't insults at all. I like this place from the warm and homey smell of freshly baked goods as soon as I walk in the doorway, to the fascinating and tantalizing display of their French pastries behind the glass. Everything looked so yummy and so new to me, I wanted to try them all! My boyfriend treated us to some pan au chocolat, beignets, and croissants. Two out of three were beautiful in taste, sound, and texture. Their beignets....a little on the disappointing side. The top came off of one of them, revealing this oddly moist texture of the bottom half of the beignet. At first we thought that it was just the vanilla pudding, but after eating them....oy, we quickly realized that they had been undercooked and were still very doughy. Granted these were my first beignets ever, so I don't know if that's what they're supposed to be like. But...I think they would have tasted better if the bread wasn't so...doughy. Other than that, the other foods were great. We often eat their cinnamon rolls. But now I'm a huge fan of their chocolate bread. As far as the staff, they're very helpful and nice. One day I'll have the food there instead of to go, it looked like a nice sit down restaurant.

Skip the one in Lake Oswego and head out to Alberta. Food's fine, but the service is blah!

If your looking to have an amazing breakfast, then this is your place to go! I absolutely adore La Provence. The breakfast is not only flavorful, rich, and hearty (plus filling) but the pastries are phenomenal! The service is decent and it usually gets super busy so its good to go decently early or at odd hours. The price is reasonable - more spendier then a diner of course. Two thumbs way up =) Never been disappointed.

Good breakfast and lunch in an otherwise wasteland of food. Authentic euro dishes like monte cristo, french onion soup. This place has pretty standard good food and not too pricy

5 stars is bold I know, but after spending some time in Paris I found the food to be as close to what as I can remember as I need for such an award. That said, this is my first time there but after having their Crab Omelet and listening to my friends and family comment on the taste of everything they had, I'm okay with branding it with as good as it gets for a french restaurant in Portland. My rating may change with more visits but I hope not. The aroma, the look, the food and oh, the coffee was just what I had hoped for when hearing about this place.

YUMMY! What great food. I was nervous that this place would not be kid friendly and I was wrong. First time we came in for breakfast, as we waited they gave my son (who was admiring the pastry case) a free pastry. We had excellend food and service! The next time we came in for dinner with our little ones, I was even more nervous since it was a more intimate, quiet, atmosphere. I was once again pleasantly surprised. Our server was wonderful. He brought my son a plate of fruit/bread while we looked at our menus. We had the most amazing dinner and the kid's grilled cheese was gigantic! Excellent food, excellent service. Would highly recommend.

Cute restaurant with good service and great food. I usually love to order the mistral sandwich when I go to La Provence for lunch. My co-worker gets the pork sandwich, and she always raves about. Portions are gigantic here. A sandwich usually serves as two meals for me. The salads are also huge and delicious too. This has to be my most favorite restaurant in Lake Oswego.

I've been here a few times and I give it three stars out of five because it really is a place for those with patience. I myself have patience and don't mind waiting for food or drinks but the thing that was frustrating was watching the other people around me. They were get snappy and short with the employees who were busting their butts to clean tables, deliver food and refill drinks. On a Sunday morning I went with my boyfriend and the place was PACKED, which is to be expected on a weekend morning/afternoon! I got a turkey and cheese filled croissant which was amazing! It was a little on the cheesy side... but cheese by itself is considered a food group to me! I can't remember the desert I got, something with lemon and it was pretty good - a little on the tarty side. I'd recommend it for yummy lunches and tasty deserts, and if you're going on the weekend, make sure you're not starving, you'll probably be waiting for awhile!

Quintessential French Bistro that has always served wonderfully prepared breakfasts every time I've been there. It's also becoming quite the place to have that power breakfast if Heathman's out of the way for you!

There is little better than brunch here at an outside table on a sunny morn. It reminds me of the late, lamented Le Bistro back in San Anselmo. Don't forget pastries to bring home!

it's 3.5 stars for me... we arrived to nice a country building with decor of a french countryside so that is my interpretation of it. as we were perusing the bakery cabinets, we were asked to be seated. At first we were going to take some baked goods to go but after looking at the menu, we decided to stay and give the food on the menu a try. the staff was friendly and attentive even after the place started to fill up. after some deliberation, we decided on the french griddle and stuffed french toast. we also pondered the risotto cakes and the omelets. the food came in a reasonable amount of time and the portions were good sized. we ended up taking the muffin and some french toast to go. The griddle was on the greasy side and could have used a little more kick. The french toast was a little sweet but I enjoyed it a lot. A negative was their prices. 11.50 for the griddle and 9 for the stuffed french toast. We also ended up buying some of the baked good from the front on the way out. The pastries were tasty but not impressive. Overall, it was a good experience but not one to make it a must return place but rather a you must try once place. With that said, I've tried it once.

Excellent dinner for my birthday. Server did everything to make it special - including catering to my picky youngest child. The dinner and dessert (with a candle) and wine were perfect. She even labeled the leftovers. I ate here before for breakfast and enjoyed it, but now I will return for dinner.

I probably shouldn't be Yelp'ing angry, but gosh darn it I feel the need to vent. I've eaten breakfast at La Provence twice now and both times the food was excellent. Fresh ingredients make for a most excellent meal. Unfortunately, good food alone does not make for a good dining experience. Maybe it was the hordes of people waiting for tables. Or the weather, since it was one of the first Sunday mornings where it seemed like spring. It could have also been the way the planets were aligned. Whatever it was, I have never felt so ignored by a wait staff in all my life. Coffee cups at our table were remaining empty even though it seemed like there was at least half a dozen people running around filling up cups at other tables. In fact, there was more than one occasion where they would walk by and never even glance in our direction. When I was finally able to flag down our server to ask for a refill, she said she'd be right back, but then we saw here go back to what she was doing (which was helping every other table but ours). It got to be so comical, that my wife and I were considering leaving before our food came out. I'd like to think that I'm a relatively low maintenance customer with a high tolerance for pain. However I can't in good conscience give La Provence more than three stars no matter how good their food is.

I took my wife here last weekend based on the recommendations I found on here. I have to say, it was a great experience. We had live french music in the form of a guitarist, some absolutely wonderful bread and butter, and great, beautifully prepared food. The only negative I could see was that it felt a little crowded with several tables in a room, but they've done what they can with the space. It seems to be a pretty popular place. Definitely a Lake Oswego must-try!

Wisteria drapes the entrance of this romantic Southern French styled bistro. Two large glass cases display their freshly baked pastries, artisan breads and desserts. This is a perfect spot for grabbing an espresso and quick treat or to relax and enjoy a hearty breakfast. Some menu options for your sweeter side include berry cream cheese stuffed french toast or crepes with mixed berries and whip cream or apricot and hazelnuts. To satisfy your hunger on a larger scale you can choose from La Provence's unique version of eggs benedicte made with a ham and cheese croissant, a poached egg and cheesy hollandaise sauce or a scramble with tomatoes, chives and homemade basil chicken sausage topped with melted brie and accompanied with side of grilled potatoes. Lunch and dinner entrees are equally as impressive with an assortment of sandwich and pasta options such as; LE PROVENCAL with Roasted pork, caramelized onions, lettuce, tomato, and Dijon mayonnaise or the MONACO with Smoked turkey breast, lettuce, tomato, Gouda cheese, and cranberry mayonnaise. Dinner menu items include orange roughy, filet mignon and rack of lamb. Prices are very reasonable. Staff is friendly and efficient. Food is delicious. La provence has the art of dining perfected.

Another one of my breakfast joints. This place is a little further from home so I don't make it here as often but when I do I am always satisfied. This is a real cozy atmosphere with friendly staff and you can tell they take their time on each entree. This is NOT diner food. Ive heard they have good deserts but I usually go for breakfast.

All the pastries and the desserts look so good in the display glass;the lunch menu looks good as well but very limited. The desserts are delicious. I got the strawberry lady finger cake and it was soggy. The fruit tart is tasteless. I got the vegetarian croissant and it was hard. I was disappointed. The only thing I like is their chocolate monkey tart. Oh, the line is very long. The parking is very small.

Always tasty breakfast. Consistent food! WHY hasn't anyone written a review about Dinner? I am very curious, but not enough to go "blind". We have been here dozens of times and love their omlettes, fresh eggs, potatoes, meats in the am. It can get VERY crowded and the scene is Lake Oswego hang-over shabby. It blows my mind all the slobs that come in with last nights make-up and sweats, but what ever... People show some self respect, you are at a restaurant. Should have a dress code (no sweats, thongs and cover your private tatoos). Anyway, the place definitely needs sprucing up, it's not as clean as bistros in France, despite what other reviewers say. It does however, have a true French feel and food in the morning is amazing. Noise is an issue and parking can be tight. People complain about the lines, that's because they are popular, good food brings lot of peeps. We have never waited for more than 10-15 minutes on the busiest of mornings, we are amazed each time we go, thinking oh boy we have to wait...and we get in (table for 2 get seated fastest). Anyway, someone please review Dinner?

Since I love to cook, our friends treated us to dinner at La Provence when we were visiting Lake Oswego. Stepping into this Bistro instantly brought back memories of a wonderful vacation in the Provence area of France. The artwork and window treatments added to the feel of southern France. I had the bouillabaisse that was scented with fennel bulb and fennel seeds. The broth was complex and deeply flavored as if the stock had been simmering on the stove for hours. The seafood was perfectly prepared and fresh tasting. Wonderful rustic artesian bread was served with the dinner. Service was attentive and at a comfortable pace. We enjoyed our dinner so much at we decided to come back for breakfast a couple of days later. I had the stuffed French toast, which was another remarkable meal. Too bad we live hundreds of miles from Lake Oswego. Otherwise, La Provence would be my neighborhood 'go to' restaurant.

Visiting here for the first time, a colleague took me here for lunch. Wonderful atmosphere, friendly staff, great location; I had a nice visit. I ordered the veggie croissant that was loaded with all types of delicious veggies; I wolfed that thing down in a matter of seconds. You should try this place. Their dessert display was very impressive as well though I didn't try anything. (I was being calorie conscious). Go here. Please!

Great food & desserts. The service & wait were really long at this location. However, once we were all seated (party of 9) everything went smoothly. The food is always great... I don't have anything negative to say as I am always satisfied whenever I eat at any of the Provence's.

7/26/15 - Brunch - foursome Thought I'd do this while the food was still fresh in my stomach and on my mind. I ordered the corned beef hash. Delivered a huge batch of sautéed onions and potatoes and if you looked very hard you could find buried somewhere a few pieces of chunked corn beef. Gave up eating the pile of onions and potatoes. How can you screw up corned beef hash? Large noisy crowd, very high noise level. Had to shout to talk. 25 minute wait for outside table. Service people seemed harried and rushed because of the very large crowd. They did as good a job as could be expected under the conditions. Chef's today seem to try to outdo each other to see who can least resemble the real dish they are listing on the menu. Show it as "Sautéed onions and potatoes and pieces of corned beef" and be honest that you don't know what "Corned beef hash" is. Great location for this new restaurant and I'm sure that given time they'll find a chef that can prepare what is listed on the menu. Their pastries are beautiful and I'm sure they taste great. Bought four will have them during the week with our morning coffee. Would go back to purchase the pastries but not the overpriced unidentifiable food.

Only tried the desserts here since the photos look great. But honestly, the desserts are terrible. We tried three, lemon tart, coconut bamba, and opera. Lemon tart is okay with good lemon sauce but cold and hard base. Coconut bamba is mediocre. Opera is like a hard cake with chocolate and coffee, cold and hard again, never eat a cake worse than this. Not good experience. Maybe te dishes are nice, but the desserts are really sth. not recommended. Good environment though. Services, not so good.

Visited this place for brunch. I enjoyed the creme brulee oatmeal with fresh berries. Simple and delicious. All of the classic French pastries looked amazing. The menu is elaborate. It's got all the French hallmarks and wines and cheeses, blah blah blah. The place seems to be perpetually packed as well so be prepared to wait. What I didn't care for was the tangible uppity air of superiority throughout the establishment. Granted, this is considered the "Beverly Hills" of Oregon but come on. We're still in Oregon, people! It's not impossible to have good food without the pretentiousness. Since when does "upscale" equate to arrogant and unfriendly? Next time I'll make French toast at home. 3 star food. 2 star attitude.

Fabulous environment + speedy service! I could hardly believe that such a bustling hot spot would get our order to us in what felt like less than 10 minutes! Seriously impressive. Our waitress was super kind as well. Happy to leave a great tip!

Just lunched at La Provence today. Had the salmon salad. Amazingly spectacular. Lots of well crafted ingredients that melded together to create one tif the best salads I have ever had. My friend enjoyed a veggie croissant and a farmers salad with equal appreciation. I will be back again and again. Next time dinner.

Located in upscale Lake Oswego, this French patisserie had a showcase of delicious confections, breads, and pastries and delicious food. I had an eggs Benedict meal (a mueret--sp?) which included a flaky croissant, poached egg, and a delicious potato and butternut squash side. I have never tasted a better Benedict. It was slathered with a yummy gravy sauce and was delicious. On my way out, I bought a hazelnut chocolate pastry and a chocolate eclair. My friend bought macaroons and they were gone by the afternoon.

We were hungry, and this place was nearby where we were when we got off the freeway due to a lot of traffic. Plus, I had them bookmarked, because they sell macarons! My absolute weakness. We dined inside, and the hostess who sat us was really nice. She gave us a kid's menu and crayons without asking, which I appreciate. Most places don't even offer, and we normally order something for our child off of it - although he seems too young, he eats a lot! Anyway, our server (Francois) came to our table in a timely manner and got us drinks rather timely, as well. He did take someone else's order who sat after us before we got to place our order... but I think the people at that table knew what they wanted when the server took their drink orders. So, no harm. No foul. They serve small, shareable plates for $5.95 or $6.95, but they do have specials for the day, which are bigger portions and prices vary. We ordered three for my fiancé and I to share. We ordered a kid's item for my child. The salad was delicious. It had just the perfect amount of balsamic dressing! The apples were light and crisp. The salmon was cooked to perfection. The pomme frites were great (especially for not putting white truffle oil on ours), and the side of garlic for them sauce was good. We ordered macarons to go, and they had pre-packaged ones for $13.95. They had ten in them, so we ordered those and a couple more individual ones to go. I thought they were good... not the best I've had, but good! And I love that they had flavors that I've never heard of or tried before. Would I visit again? Yes!

This is located in a very modern/nice complex. Looked super busy for a Sunday morning for brunch. A lot of people waiting for tables. I just came to grab a couple pastries and a drink to go. Did not super love any of the pastries we tried. Mushroom brioche and the Pain Aux Raisin. It was ok, but nothing I feel like I want again. Also got a green tea latte, which was good/normal. Maybe wouldn't mind coming to try their brunch, but pastries are a no go for me.

This is the place for a nice simple breakfast. I absolutely love the croissant and raspberry jam they give with their specialty breakfast entrees. It's nice and warm and toasty! I get cakes from here sometimes too, for special occasions. They have big ones and mini one person ones. It's a nice place to go with your girlfriends every once in a while. The pricing is not too bad either!! There dinners are fun to go to sometimes too. The portions are super small, and affordable, so we can go get many different kinds of food and share it without overeating or spending too much. love it!

What is a boulangerie ... is that even legal in this state? Is patisserie a typo for potisserie now that weed is officially legit in Oregon? Oh... Boulangerie is a bakery ... and Patisserie is a bakery, too. Ok ... so ... Boulangerie is a Bread Bakery and Patisserie is a Pastry Bakery? Oui. La Provence Boulangerie and Patisserie also happens to be a restaurant (ok, a bistro) where you can get a full meal to go with your bakery treats. * Pork Shank ($6.95) ... was recommended by la serveuse, so I said c'est bon. The Oven-roasted Pork was juicy with flavor from Dijon and Sage Sauce plus Sauteed Butternut Squash and Granny Smith Apples (4 stars) * Almond Crisp Salade ($5.95) ... the "e" on the end makes it fancy while the blend of Fuji Apples, Gruyere Cheese, and toasted Pumpkin Seeds on Mixed Greens with a Pumpkin Vinaigrette makes it tasty (4 stars) * French Onion Soupe ... Is there anything more American than eating French Onion Soup at a "French restaurant?" No monsieur. I love the classic soup. The extra "e" makes it taste more French, too. (4 stars) * Complimentary Bread & Butter ... French Bread, right? ... not exactly * Inversion IPA Draft Beer ... Wine would of been the natural choice, but when in Portland ... drink beer as Portlandians do. For dessert, I hit the bakery counter on the way out. So many tempting choices ... these were the ones that spoke French to me. * Macarons ... Salted Caramel, Cherry, Marionberry, and Mint ... Cherry was dry, but Mint and Marionberry were fine (3 stars) * Hazelnut Croissant ... Like a Nutella Croissant (3 stars) * Black Beauty Dessert - Dark and tempting Chocolate Cake layered with Chocolate Ganache, Chocolate Mouse, and Vanilla Syrup (4 stars) La Provence Boulangerie & Patisserie may sound fancy, but it's a very relaxed restaurant, bakery, and bar. With free parking, friendly service, and reasonably-priced French-style food, it should thrive ... regardless if the neighborhood can pronounce it or not.

Five stars for atmosphere and price. Flavors were tasty but not over the top. I love that they offer small plates for sharing. Hubs had the braised short rib and I had the pork shank. We also had the autumn salad, I found this a bit underwhelming. The short rib was tender and paired well with the red wine blend. The pork shank had layers of flavor that were more complex and delish! We grabbed dessert to-go which was well worth it. Our chocolate coated pillow of happiness was filled with white chocolate, coffee creme and chocolate cake. The atmosphere is what drew me to this location over others. The outdoor seating is plentiful. Dinner, dessert, and wine for less than $40 bucks pushes La Provence to a 5 for this Yelper.

I love breakfast! Especially here! Even when it's super busy, there's so many tables the wait is never too long, the servers are all great, and the food is always amazing! We end up going here a lot because it's so dependable. The prices are reasonable and the portions are big and the food tastes good. Their gluten free bread is super delish! And the decor is so charming! So much more attractive than their old restaurant down the road. Last week we were served by Tess and she was incredibly sweet. We brought our babies and my daughter made an embarrassing spill, and Tess was so kind and helpful and even brought me a new latte :) which just solidified my loyalty to La Provence breakfast!

Cute little spot! They have a very cute covered patio/outdoor seating area. We just came for some coffee and to take some treats home, although their lunch and dinner menu looked great. My almond milk latte was great and my husband loved his Americano. Their breads and pastries all looked good. The blueberry cream cheese coffee cake was okay. It was a bit stale around the edges and we did find a piece of hair baked into the cake which is kind of a bummer. The macarons were good, not Bouchon quality but decent for Portland. I enjoyed the strawberry coconut, marionberry and chocolate hazelnut the best. I would come back for lunch or brunch if I was in the area.

I was hoping to sit down and enjoy my breakfast, but the line of weekend branch goers was CRAZY!! However, this place offers a great selection of baked goods; you can just grab some pastries and coffee if you are in a hurry or starving to death. I picked a spinach & feta croissant and white chocolate & hazelnut croissant. The spinach & feta one was alright. The croissant part was chewy but not as flaky or buttery as I wanted it to be. It reminded me of a store-bought croissant. The white chocolate one was much much better. It was crusty, chewy, buttery, and flaky as I want my croissant to be. Their forte must be sweet croissants/pastries.

Suzie Q's Fun Facts: The French region of Provence got its name from the Romans, who had originally named it "Provincia Romana" (Roman province) - the first Roman province beyond the Alps. =~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~ Wow, what a satisfying breakfast! On a recent visit to Portland, mom had invited me to breakfast with a friend of hers. The friend had made a reservation at La Provence, a place I'd never heard of. La Provence was bustling on this particular Tuesday, the day before New Year's Eve 2014. You'd never have known that it was the middle of the week from the busy, happy-looking dining room. (At one point, the front area filled suddenly with seniors, as though a tour bus had gotten lost and somehow found its way here). I ordered the Wild Northwest Salmon Hash with poached eggs ["Wild northwest smoked salmon and sautéed leeks tossed with fresh cut hash browns grilled golden brown, topped with two eggs any style, then drizzled with fresh lemon-dill sauce."] At $12.95, whether this dish was a bargain would depend entirely on its portion size and flavor. I reserved judgment until it arrived. Meanwhile, thankfully I had selected the croissant with my hash. It arrived first along with my decaf coffee. Not realizing (at the time) that La Provence is famous for these crusty bad boys - which I saw later were baked on-premises - I was duly impressed by its crusty, flaky tenderness with buttery, moist layers of dough. Even more impressively, the croissant came with a little crock of raspberry jam and a slice of creamy, room-temp brie. I was in seventh heaven! By the time my main dish arrived, I had inhaled the delicious croissant. Yet I somehow made room for the huge plate of delicious, house-smoked salmon and eggs. I needn't have worried about whether the dish was a bargain: What a generous portion of smoky, salty fish. I enjoyed the accompanying rich, but still light lemon-dill sauce. And the eggs were poached perfectly. Other noteworthy details: - The service was fine. When the waitress saw that the sun was shooting into my mom's eyes, she was more than happy to seat us at a different table. She checked in on us periodically without being intrusive. - The ambiance was very pleasant. - Huge parking lot. Can't wait to return on my next visit to Portland!

Delish! First off the server was very prompt, attentive and nice. The additional wait staff was also very nice and helpful. My breakfast came with a croissant which was served first. It was nice and warm, flakey and perfect. Was complimented well with a slice of brie and berry jam. I had to share it with my husband and toddler but really wanted to keep it all for myself. It was that good! We were just as pleased with our meals. I had the corned beef hash and my husband a benedict with a burgundy reduction sauce. My hash was a perfect blend of crispy and soft with lots of veggies and large chunks of corned beef. The Benedict was on one of those lovely croissants. (darn, i guess I didn't have to share mine) It was very rich with lots of flavor. The poached eggs on top were cooked perfectly. We both cleaned our plates and would go back again to either get the same meal or try the other, what looked to be very tasty items. This is not far from home so it is a very dangerous discovery. We will be going back a lot this summer for the outdoor dining.

So so so good! I have been several times in the last couple of months and tried breakfast lunch and dinner menus. The food is amazing! So unique and very familiar French style. We have had excellent servers each visit. Highly suggest trying the mimosas. I have been making my way down their list and each one is outstanding! The croissant with jelly and cheese is a thing, trust me!

This was my first visit to the new location and it was every bit as good as the original. I had the spinach and wild mushroom polenta with two poached eggs over it and wowza - maybe my favorite breakfast meal ever. My best friend ordered us a pinwheel to snack on while we waited for the rest of her family to arrive for the birthday celebration. That was delicious as well! My coffee was always full and service was top notch. We had a reservation and were seated in the loft area, high above the hustle and bustle of the weekend crowd below. Overall a wonderful visit and I will surely be back again.

This restaurant/cafe is so quaint and charming. When we stepped in, I felt like I went to Santa's cafeteria. Their Christmas decorations/lights are already out so you get this warm holiday feeling being in such a cute and festive space. I've been to Paris and this coffee shop/restaurant was way cleaner and organized than any I've been to there. The pastries are delicious. My husband and I decided to get this chocolate cake that was so rich and decadent. If you decide to sit in the restaurant, they plate the cake and even decorate the cake and the pate for you. I really enjoyed looking at all the pastries in the display. It looked so pretty and colorful. The best part of it all was that it tasted good too. Service was good and efficient. I liked that they had little samples near the register for you to try their pastries. The prices are on the moderate to high range where a chocolate cake costed about $5-$6 for a tiny slice, but that is to be expected at such a higher end bakery. The only downside to this place was that they said that they had internet but it didn't work at all. This is a wonderful little restaurant to bring your families. I think I"ll bing mine here again when I'm back in Portland visiting.

I got the banana fosters waffles this time. I DO NOT REGRET IT! I tried my moms dish, she got the bread pudding and that was just as good. We sat outside in the sun which was perfect for an afternoon lunch and just sat there enjoying our surroundings. I then spent $20. on cookies and proceeded to eat them all by my self. I love this place.

Foodie delight! Fantastic experience, well crafted food and I even got to use my French! Definitely will come back here when I'm in town.

We had not been to any of this chain before and it sounded interesting. It has an interesting looking menu but we came to drink some wine and have dessert. The host grumbled a little at our indecision on where we wanted to sit (inside or outside with rain threatening) but I concluded this was an attempt at humor. The wine list is short but we found a French Sauvignon blanc. Unfortunately the store computer overcharged by $4 which was corrected by a credit to our bill leaving future diners a chance to be overcharged. We both had a dessert. My coconut dessert was great and my wife loved her fruit tart. Our waitress did what she needed to do get us served. But for the computer error which is apparently not corrected, this would have been 4 stars.

Food is always amazing. The atmosphere is so beautiful and the staff works their butt off every time I'm there. Their orange juice and dry cappuccinos are to die for. Keep up the good work guys.

The best margarita I have ever had!!! I ordered the Provençal margarita, and it tasted like a margarita/Long Island. The food was really good. Really good truffle fries. I ordered the calamari, but they were not to my liking. Service was great, and attentive staff. I will come back and try their French onion soup, it looked really good.

Our server had a stick up her ass the whole time I was here, and although my food was good, that really dampened the experience. I eat at the little mini La Provence at PDX all the time, since I work at the airport. I love their food, and thought it'd be nice to take my sister here for brunch. Food was good, not spectacular. The menu is much bigger here than at the airport, of course. The croissants are still amazing but my hash was "meh." I had a latte and finished it before my food arrived. Server never asked if I'd like another, and always rushed away from the table before I could ask for another drink. No smiles, just dropped off our food and left. I really didn't think I'd be writing a 2 star review for a place like this, but based on my experience last Sunday, they do not deserve a higher rating.

Hands down the best breakfast I've ever had. They have it all. Beautiful location, delicious pastries, attentive waitstaff, amazing breakfast offerings, and the best macaroons I've ever had. The macaroons were so good that on the way to the airport, I stopped and got some to bring home. I checked my bag so my hands would be free to transport these delicious nuggets of heaven back to KC. The flight attendant recognized the name and the precious cargo, and stored my macaroons up front in his storage area for the flight home. The only thing that surprised me was the price. They seem too low! I expected the prices to be high given the location and look and feel of the place. They were very reasonable, and I'd still consider this place amazing if they raised the prices by 20%!

It's okay. Wouldn't go out of my way to have breakfast here, but it's better than fast food. Expect around a thirty minute wait on most weekends. The croissants are pretty good -- and the outdoor seating can be cool on nice days -- but the food is just kind of meh in general. And, on top of that, it's pretty expensive for what you get. Think it's basically a 3-star place.

    (3)

The wait is often long and the seating isn't as private as I would like, but I have never had a bad meal here. The food is delicious and the prices are very reasonable considering the quality.

My how the mighty have fallen. A reputation built on solid French cooking specializing in breakfast is now a place to avoid. A recent visit there brought out eggs benedict with shells in the sauce, burnt croissants, fatty ham, tasteless sauce, undercooked potatoes and highly non apologetic wait staff, I will never go back

Let's begin by saying it's crowded and loud. The wait staff AND patrons ran into my chair over and over and over again. We ordered a brie plate, which arrived lukewarm...cold in the middle. Brie should be warmed and melty. There were three MINISCULE pieces of bread to split with 2 people. The table was TINY, they all are, and they plate things on HUGE plates--but very little --I mean teeny--food. So we are sitting there with our plates, the brie plate, and soup bowls, and the table is FULL. We barely touch our spoons to the soup and here comes our entrees WHICH WE ASKED TO HAVE HELD UNTIL AFTER THE SOUP. There is nowhere on the table to put it, and the server says "what should I do with this?" I reply "I don't know." I mean, does he think I'll balance it on my head? My French Onion soup was tasteless and was mostly BREAD. The sausage soup that my husband had was tasty but barely warm. I asked to exchange mine for his and mine came...COLD. Then come the main courses. I ordered Kobe sliders. Preformed patties of cardboard...that were so bad I couldn't eat them. My husband had salmon. He said it was mostly tasteless, probably farmed, which is crazy in Portland. We thought we'd at least try the desserts. Oh my. Pretty to look at. Horrible to taste. I asked if the desserts were made there "Oh yes" was the reply. What a lie. Premade crusts as hard as ROCKS. I nearly broke a tooth. They didn't have my requested dessert on the platter, so I had to order something else. Then, we are about to leave, and the manager (I assume) came over and said he had a surprise for me. He brings me a larger version of what I ordered with Happy Birthday written on the plate. He wishes me a happy birthday. Very nice. Except, it isn't my birthday for another two months. I spent my last date night at Cafe Murrayhill. The difference between these two could not be greater. I wouldn't go back and pay too much for too teeny and too tasteless of food again. It might be all the rage right now, but it's a chain, and not a good one. Oh, and it's French....but no cream brulee? Really?

My daughter and I had lunch here. We had the bacon lettuce tomato sandwich, with the salad, and the split pea soup. They have Excellent coffee and the ambience is wonderful. They do have a TV in the bar area, it's very busy but service was amazing. This is some of the best food I've ever had. I will definitely be back soon.

Our group of eight was seated upstairs on the balcony area which was fun, service was great. Each of us loved what we ordered, not a single complaint. I had a veggie sandwich (add turkey) with French onion soup and it was wonderful. I order coffee here even though I don't normally drink it because it's that good! They also have a fabulous Mediterranean salad and berry french toast is to die for, as well as the risotto cakes. They don't do reservations here unless you have a group of eight or more, and there is a good long wait if you come during busy times. The atmosphere is French country dressed up and a real treat. There is no walking past the bakery counter indifferently, we always leave with treats. My personal favorites are the palmier and the meringue cookies and the salted caramel macaroons. Thumbs up!

Great tasting food and nice service from waiters. However, when we entered the restaurant, I had to break up a conversation between three staff members at the reception podium to get them to notice us. The hostess begrudgingly led us to an outdoor table which was uncomfortably close to a stroller belonging to patrons at the next table. I asked if we could be seated at a nearby table instead and received an unenthusiastic response. My husband then couldn't figure out where Breakfast was listed on his menu...turned out she had given him the Supper menu. This restaurant has a huge following and deserves its great reputation. The hostess, on the other hand, needs to find a job where she does not deal with the public.

I've only had the breakfast here. The croissants are amazing, the breakfast overall is above average. Seating is a little tight, so this is not a quiet place to eat - especially of there is a large group around (which there often seems to be). It's a little on the spendy side, but the portions are more than generous. if you're looking for an invigorating environment and a great breakfast I would recommend it.

Love this place! Definitely one of my highest rated breakfast places thus far. Came here with my best friend for a farewell breakfast before going back to school, and it was so perfect! Inside, it's like a trip to France. Beautiful, rustic, relaxing decor. Tip: order a croissant with jam while you look at the menu. By far the best I've ever had. Buttery, flaky, warm, and they're made in house just feet away from you. A must-order. I also branched out and got the caramelized pear/bleu cheese french toast. Gotta say the flavors sound a little intimidating for French toast, but they were GREAT. Perfect amount of bleu cheese so to not overpower the rest, but enough to give it a little flavor "pow". Loved it. The only thing I regret is that I got house coffee instead of an espresso drink like mocha/cappuccino! Would have liked to try one of those. I will definitely be coming back here.

I love the atmosphere of this place. Cozy with outside seating available. It's usually busy for breakfast. Ate breakfast there this morning. Had the baked eggs with Gruyere cheese. It was baked just right and yummy. Others ate the risotto cakes and eggs which I have had before. So good. And the croissant with jam is so buttery good! The service was good. Sweet waitress. We were seated outside on the patio and our food and drinks were ordered and delivered in a timely manner.

Lost loyal customer due to horrific service. I'm used to the wait times and the food is generally worth the wait so I'm not complaining about having to wait, what I'm complaining about is the mismanagement of the waiting list, the treatment of customers on the waiting list and hands down one of the rudest waiters I've encountered since I can remember. Arrived at 1028am waiting for a two-top, was told the wait time was 25 minutes. Checked backed in at 1105am when we saw people that arrived well after us being seated. I inquired and the hostess said we're the very next table. 1115am I checked back in after more people were being seated and she said we were the very next table... It took me standing right there to literally grab the next available table. We had 25 to 30 minutes time to wait, not 45 and had the hostess been honest and upfront in the beginning we would have kindly left happy customers to return another day. Once seated, our waiter spent the next four minutes chatting it up with the table next to us--after taking their order mind you--before even making it to our table for so much as taking a drink order. This is when there is now a 50 minute wait time for people. Given its now 1120am we explained once our waiter came to our table that we are in a hurry and we knew what we wanted so we gave him our order. First thing out of his mouth was, "I'll have to charge you for those coffees, I'll just put them on your tab." I've never been charged for the two small coffees while I was waiting, but hey, maybe things changed, but truly bad form to mention it such a situation. Obviously, this was intentional and if not, poor poor judgement on his part. My wife got up and said, I'm leaving. I asked the waiter what I owed for the coffees, he said $2.50 each. I put $5 on the table and proceeded to walk out when he said, "what, is there something wrong? Did I do something? Fine, go." If they weren't so busy I would have asked for the waiters name and then the manager...I'm half inclined now, but I figure his lack of customer services skills will be recognized by management soon enough. Not. Going. Back. Can't remember the last time I've walked out of a restaurant, but I'd say it's been 15 to 20 years easy. Too bad, too, the food is tasty, I love their pastries and I know my office will be disappointed when I explain to the staff we will be sourcing the office's weekly pastries and executive lunch catering needs somewhere else. Two stars simply because the food is good, but not worth being treated like that.

So good I forgot to take pictures! The mimosas come in 5 or 6 flavors and they are incredible. I recommend the blackberry. The jam is the best I have ever had. I also had the beet and blue salad and the asparagus soup, both were delicious! The deck outside has heaters, making it perfect for fall and spring. And the wait staff was attentive, but not too much so. Overall awesome experience!

This is a definitely place for hipster millennials. Not a good spot for average folks. The prices are too high, however, the food is good. Maybe it's just me, but I liked the quaint old country feel of the old place much better. In fact, the old place was my favorite breakfast place. The focal point of the new place is the BAR!! What does that tell you? Also, we had a very bad service experience on 6/27, a Saturday night at little after nine o'clock pm. Short story is their staff was not attentive at all. We stopped for a coffee and a desert. We asked to be seated in a quiet area so we could talk. Note: They have a lot of this so-called "european style" seating which seats you elbow to elbow with other parties so having a private conversation is impossible. We did not want that so we asked for a table. They gave us a table against the back wall, which was OK for us, but their service staff tended to ignore that area and we had trouble with getting our service problems fixed. The coffee served was luke warm, so we wanted it to be changed out. It took over 5 minutes to get anyone to even notice we had a need for service. Finally, we flagged down our server and she replaced the coffees with new cups........ but the new cups were just as luke warm! She didn't wait to see if they were OK, so we had to wait another few minutes to flag her down again to let her know the coffee was not right. She said all the coffee was that way and suggested we do a cafe Americana which was made fresh for each cup. I did that, but my wife decided to just skip it, since we already had consumed our desert without decent coffee! The server took the coffee off the bill without us having to ask, which was good. Here is my suggestion to the owners of this place: TRAIN your staff better. Inattentive staff will kill your business if you do not fix that. Also, get rid of your current coffee system. You are serving terrible luke warm coffee with your current system. Coffee is to be served at 195 degrees. GOOGLE IT!! We'll try you again in a few months. If the problems are not fixed, we'll never be back. BTW, we live in the local community.

When I arrived with my party, each of our water glasses that were set out on our table had lipstick stains on them. Gross! When we kindly asked for new ones the waitress seemed put out and never had a smile on her face throughout the whole lunch. This place is not clean, you could even feel the slime on their menus. The area to the kitchen also had garbage on the ground and was not swept. Their outdoor seating area would be great...at a different restaurant. Always make sure you sit outside because their indoor seating it crowded, loud, and dark. Their service is terrible, they are very rude and snobby.Their food is definitely not great French food. Order anything but the eggs Benedict, my ham was chewy and croissant was dry. Always make reservations to this place as well. I wish I had a better experience at this location, terrible customer service and issues with cleanliness.

Gets my award for most overrated restaurant in the Portland area. Have had 2 mediocre meals here in new location, more in original spot. In old spot the service was snobby, here it's good. Today I ordered an omelet without the avocado and onion. I got both, and a boatload of onions that overtook the flavor. Light was too dim upstairs and the din downstairs was too much. I was here once and my dining partner had glass in his omelet. This was several years back right after the move, and they comped him his meal, but.... I've had the Collette omelet many times and it's consistently overcooked under the broiler. Dry. With the ingredients it could be great, particularly if folded, not open. Babica Hen is better.

Came here for an early Father's Day dinner. For a Friday night (just before 6pm) it wasn't too crowded - we figure it's probably because this place is more known for brunch. Too bad cause their dinner plates were pretty dang good! We didn't realize until we sat down that the menu was "tapas" style, or all small plates. I like that so much better so you can basically try the entire menu and not spend an arm and a leg on some dish you don't even like. And at the end of the meal you can figure out which one you likes best and go with that next time. Here's the verdict: Kids meal grilled cheese was pretty good! They don't use rinky dink sliced bread, instead it was the good stuff! Nice thick slices of bread and gooey cheese inside. Came with lots of fruit too. Croque St Jacque (?) aka scallops and risotto heaven. Omg. There scallops were seared to perfection. Def my favorite dish. Kobe beef sliders. We ordered 2 of these. I guess that speaks for itself. YUM. Truffle fries were awesome! Perfect crunch And not too overpowering. Parmesan and dip was a nice touch. Ahi tuna - preggo me didn't get to try it, but hubs cleared that plate. I think he liked it! French onion soup -again I didn't get to try it cause by the time I wanted to, hubs gobbled it up. Must have been good too! After dinner the kids got their obligatory cookies, butterfly and motorcycle this time, and mommy and daddy got bfast pastries. Epic meal. Screw waiting around for an hour for brunch - we are coming back for dinner!!

Office lunch today at this place, party of 11. I ordered the Chipotle Chicken Sandwich...it was good, but not spectacular. One of my coworkers ordered the Monte Cristo and wished I would've got that instead because it looked delicious. The croissant sandwiches that were ordered also looked very good. We also ordered desserts (which we had to ask for the menus because the waiter did not ask if we wanted dessert...and after sitting for 10+ min I had to go get the waiter to ask to take our dessert order). The desserts they have on display are beautiful...I would come here again just for dessert. I ordered the Opera cake (pictured) which is French almond cake brushed with coffee syrup and layered with chocolate ganache and coffee buttercream....it was very rich and delicious!

Visited again on New Years Eve for dinner. This would be a 5 star review if it was based just on the food. Food was outstanding. All of the glasses we were served had finger prints and smudges, and I think the table top was about ready to fall off, it rocked back and forth several inches. Waiter was very attentive and we were very happy we chose La Provence to ring in our new year!

I use to love this place, but since they moved I have to say it's gone down hill. The food is just okay; the pastries are still nice, but the QUALITY of everything has really been bad. The prices are high for what you can get; there are other places that are much more tasty and not so spendy. I doubt I'll come back.

I had an excellent french onion soup here, damn that was good! Hearty enough to be a meal really but I also had the monte carlo sam and that was very good as well. They also have a menu of smaller plates which I like, that way you can try some thing out without spending so much for those unfamiliar with French cuisine or those of us that like variety in a meal. It is however very busy and the service can be a tad slow but it's quite good overall and I plan to come back soon to sample more :)

Even though you have to endure the aroma of the wonderful freshley baked goods while you wait... the brunch is still so good. I've had their salmon hash and chef omelette. both were delicious. always get their butter croissant as the side; it's large, buttery, flaky and soft. Portion is quite large. Also serve freshly squeezed OJ and great espresso. Favorite pastry there: chocolate souffle.

Just stupid good! It doesnt take much but a look inside to see how good this place is.. From the moment you walk in and see the pastries on display to the waiting list to get some food in your belly. No brainer! 5 stars! The only thing I didnt like was the super cramped seating upstairs in the balcony. One less table would make for a lot more enjoyable setting. We couldnt even hardly get in or out of our seats because we were literally back to back with the people next to us.

All of the pastries are amazing and I've also enjoyed everything I have tried off of the lunch menu. There can be a bit of a wait at times but I believe that speaks to the quality of the restaurant - it's always worth the wait!

A very solid 4 stars. Quite affordable. The wife and I had dinner for $48 including tip. (Only one cocktail, but it was well made and fairly priced. Everything is pleasingly plated, much like one would expect in a much more expensive place, I had the smoked Ahi, and she had lamb brochettes. Both were great. Dessert case looked scrumptious, but we passed. I'll go for it next time. And there will be a next time. I loved it.

Glad this was close to hotel, should've come here twice. Luckily came on a Sunday early enough around 11am, no wait. Definitely French-inspired decor, and good service. Noticed the display of pastries and the humungus croissants right away, which they are well known for. It's amazing how they can make it this shape, consistently. Ordered their beef brisket corn hash, yummy with all the right fixings: peppers, grilled onions and 2 eggs poached just right. Hash browns also not too oily, and good bite-sized chunks. Liked how the tables have their name engraved along the sides too. Really liked their packaging for macarons, kinda like those Hot Wheels to carry the miniature cars, but just too full. Would give this a slight over the other breakfast Hen something that was just as good, simply for the desserts. Great service too.

Fairly mediocre food. I assume this may be some people's view of what French food is like, but it is nothing like this. The squash was undercooked, and pancakes come with fake (not maple) syrup. The croissant and coffee were good, and the pastries look great. I would only come back for a pastry, not for a meal.

Love me some French bakeries! Came here on a Tuesday, 10AM and sat outside with a party of 10. Good thing there are heaters to keep you warm during the meal. Breakfast meals come with croissants which are so delicious here and have a different texture than Ken's Artisan Bakery in DT Portland. I got the pear french toast which was perfectly sweet with honey. Not too syrup-y is the best kind of french toast. Also got 2 baguettes to-go and they stayed fresh for the rest of the day.

For breakfast this place is great! I love their variety of wonderful food, good service and the feel of the restaurant. However, for dinner the plates are a bit smaller and they used to have a delicious salad on the menu with shrimp, but since that has been removed i've had a harder time finding things I want to eat on their dinner menu.

I came here for a special birthday dinner for myself. I wanted a fine dining experience, and even though I sat at the bar, I was pleased with the quality of the service and food I received. The bartender was pretty busy, so I didn't get my silverware or napkin before my first plate arrived, but I got one easily within reach, and he was timely afterward with refilling my glass and with the bill. They gave me a free fruit tart for my birthday, and I'd like to come back for drinks and dessert sometime. The chocolate layered cakes are especially delicious.

I love the patio here. And the restaurant itself if nicely done. It's a busy place, and they seem to handle the traffic well. Although we avoid it during brunch, just too crowded, and there are other options in the area. For dinner they serve small plates. It's a concept that I love, and they do it well. Two or three per person is the perfect amount, and you will always have room for dessert. The pastries and dessert items are beautiful and delicious and worth a trip there. We often go in and buy them to go. The main problem at this place is the service. We've been at least 20 times I. The last two years, and have tried to be open minded, but more times than not we've had bad service. So much so that my husband refused to go there again. It's a great little place, and from the looks of it, many are able to overlook the problems.

Ok. The pastries are delicious. But the service we have gotten really sucks. We've gone to the Progress Ridge & Lake Oswego locations, both times we were seated immediately but waited more than 5 minutes for anyone to acknowledge we were sitting at a table. Once we got someone's attention we were treated as an imposition, had to ask for basics and part of order was "forgotten". I want to like this place, but wouldn't recommend it for dine in, EVER!

La Provence Boulangerie & Patisserie was a delicious experience! Service was good but the wait was long. If you're not picky about where you sit, I'd recommended sitting at the bar area because it's open seating. They have a huge selection of baked goodies on top of their breakfast/lunch/dinner menu. What's good? - Croissant with strawberry jam was so delicious. The croissant was so flaky on the outside and so soft and buttery on the inside. The strawberry jam tasted homemade and was the best strawberry jam I had ever had! - Risotto Cakes & Eggs was an amazing breakfast. The risotto was made with asparagus, bacon, mushrooms and onions then pan fried to have crispy sides. It was topped with a poached egg which oozed out on top of the risotto cakes. It was soooooo delicious! What's okay? - Corn Hash Beef was okay. It's made with big chunks of beef which weren't at all flavorful. The hash browns were not golden brown and weren't crispy. Overall, I didn't enjoy this dish because it lacked flavor. I wouldn't recommend getting this dish.
